Don't fret. You'll have a thousand things to distract you until long after it comes out.

I for one probably have over 100 games I haven't even beaten yet, and a good chunk I haven't even touched....yet I'm still buying games for some reason.

I still have yet to finish the first Neptunia even once. :/

It's just not a very good game, especially compared to mk2. Not to mention the fact that you pretty much need to get a bunch of DLC in order for the early game to not be heinously annoying.

Estimated shipping time: 2-4 weeks.

I got the bad ending to the first game and stopped. I also made sure to get all hidden treasure chests in story dungeons, as well as all exclusive monsters. It takes too much work to get the other endings. My main reason for liking it is the story, so I'm rather happy that my characters are strong to the point of being able to obliterate most story fights now. It would make it a breeze if I ever wanted to see the story again.

Incidentally, I see no reason why they had to completely reboot the setting. I mean, sure, continuing from the True Ending wouldn't have worked, but couldn't they have continued from the bad or normal endings?

The younger sisters weren't present in the first game, and they changed how Neptune met Iffy and Compa. I'd say they had valid reasons for resetting the continuity.

...But...if the True Ending isn't the one that gets the sequels, then how is it a True Ending?

Although I am convinced otherwise, the way some of you talk about it, Nep 1 was a horrible game and rebooting was the only way to get the series away from that turd. (Seriously, you guys bad mouth the first game a lot)

I don't bad mouth the fist one much. I just say that people aren't missing out on much if they skip the first one and go to the second one. But I apologize if I do seem to give Nep 1 a bad rap too much.

Maybe it's just me, but whenever the first one does come up, it's usually close by to a point saying that it's awful (at least gameplay wise) and people should just skip it. (I think it helps that II is a reboot, which also doesn't really speak well for the first one in of itself)

Sorry if I misread things.

(I would like to note that I still haven't had the chance to play any of these. I am just optimistic/foolish.)

They didn't need to change how Neptune met them. The change served no real purpose aside from shoehorning the sisters in, and there are a multitude of other ways they could have been brought in.

well idk lol I think it worked somewhat

also the oracles. They weren't in Nepnep 1, aside from Histy.

On the subject of Nepnep 1's quality, the battle system and super-boring dungeons kill it. The battles are rather tedious and repetitive, coupled with an item system that defied all logic. Speaking of defying all logic, the shares system was also a huge flaw because the game never explained it. Better yet, it didn't even acknowledge its existence outside an obscure part of the game menu. What are those coloured bars, you ask? YOU WON'T FIND THE ANSWER IN THE GAME LOL OR IN THE MANUAL EITHER HA HA but if you don't pay attention to those bars you will not ever recruit the goddess hos because they will screw you over in some way.

The shares were kinda tedious to grind in mk2 but at least the game told you about them.

It's a 9-year-old game, and this is a thread about the series. It's like complaining about chapter 1 of a Long Runner being spoiled within its own thread when the series is 300+ chapters in. evil grin

I am a completely 'eyes only' player of Nep 1. (which means I only watch videos and not owning the game)

What I can say is, IF and CH had legit reasons for rebooting the setting using the name mk2. Some people can't get over it (like a noisy Youtube caper) while I think most of us had moved on from that. Doesn't really mean having played Nep 1 was a worthless experience though. In Nep 2, there are some lines spoken by characters which only makes more sense if given that YOU had played the first game

What I can also say is, if you played Nep 1, you will feel attached to the 4 goddesses just the way you SHOULD be. Tangently, IF and Compa having met the goddesses was a whole boundary of love that can only be truly felt if you played the first game, while all you need to do is just carry it over to Nep 2. Not to mention, having the goddesses already working together makes less sense, unless (yet again) you've played the first game before

I prefer to think of it as a parody-filled reboot with tentative connections

To make an analogy of it, it's like a one-shot of a manga that went on to become a proper series later. The one-shot tested the waters, and the series starts by going over the same ground again, but with changes based on reader reaction. The extent of the changes can be minor/non-existent, like Medaka Box, or they can be major/barely-recognizable, like Nisekoi and The World God Only Knows. But, unlike manga, they couldn't just give the proper series the same name as the one-shot, so they called it mk2, to outright state that it's the same plot but "improved".

So yeah. I suppose this makes the first Neptunia game a one-shot game. evil grin

(Doesn't stop me from preferring the one-shot's version of events in many cases, TBQH.)

second magichange ability?

Sofar on my D4, I have my Zonneldark prinny (who comes up with these names?) at level 52 (hopefully, to reincarnate it into a mage class to learn the "Int added to attack" evility, then incarnate into a monster keeping that skill and give it a int/attack monster item. So I when I attack I attack with high attack and high Int being added to it, creating a monster.

...is that possible? That sounds super strong having a monster with casting powers and an attack that's boosted by int. which seems good for a prinny of a final boss. Abit, a weaker and easier final boss then most, but still a final boss. If only there was a way to get Dark revenge / Final Boss arises on him.

I've also been wasting time grinding in 3-2 getting mana throwing enemies into eachother. something tells me I should just pass stronger enemies and work from there, then go back when I'm ready to continue. Is this 5-2 grinding spot better?

Also, to get a galaxy/prism mage (the class unlock after star, which has all three elements. level 150 mage? or must be a level 150 star mage?

Magic Wand is not INT added to STR. It's INT takes place of STR when calculating damage, and even then, only if a staff is equipped. So you will have to keep them a mage (or keep them with a staff) for the Evility to do anything.

But yes, seeing your squishy mage do more damage with a normal physical attack than one of your physical attackers is very amusing.

Also, in Disgaea 3 and 4, you have to get the next tier by leveling up the tier before it (level up tier one go get tier two, tier two to get tier three, etc). You can't do it like the first two games and just level up the first tier to get all the way to the last. (Of course, you couldn't do this with Mages/Skulls anyway, but yeah)

*kicks you in the shin* Damn! I wonder what I should tune that too. to create a character in that style of who that character would have become. (Every other Big Bad got dealt with D1's got Yuuka'd and D3's is in a test tube). What happened to Fake Zenon. That would totally be a great plot twist in a story. A seemingly normal prinny, only revealing with a encounter with Rozy calling her Zenon, attacking and showing his real colors...only to eventually be "reborn" going on some sort of high point, explodes his prinny body and recreating his curse on a select few victims nearby, turning them into his monster slaves as he forms back into a younger version of himself... "it's good to be back..." and goes on to become a new threat. Maybe with some Applied Phlebotinum so he can fight on-tier with everyone else.

Anyway, my challenge is different then usual.

I want to avoid using the normal classes that everyone uses (for also pratical reasons too). Fighter, Valakyre, Mage, Healer, Thief, Archer.

I'm hoping to run for the exclusive classes this game and use the ones I rarely use. Beastmaster, Heavy Knight, Gunner, shaman, Battle suit, Masked Hero, Magic knight, Monk and professor instead for human classes, and use the non-traditional monster classes too. I've never used Ninja before the female samurai, so maybe them too.

Maybe incarnate my healer into a archer. T He professor I'm totally reviving from Makai Kingdom (yay, MK love!). My fighter's becoming one of those melee classes. Fuka has the Axe, and maybe I'll give her a sword so she can play with Desco's Magichange more and give my fighter's reincarnation the axe. I wonder how to turn this.

I don't wanna just maul everything like usual

I always make the game hard for myself by using these restrictions until I beat the main story:

  • No grinding.
  • No item world (aside from the one mandatory time).
  • No character world.
  • Story characters only, generics given to you at the start are allowed until all story characters join.
  • No reincarnation.
  • No [insert action here that goes against the spirit of the above self-imposed restrictions].

Works pretty well for me at making the game hard.
