Looks like Books are gone again. That certainly didn't take long.

On the other hand, the new color editor sounds incredibly fun to mess around with.

Looks like we won't ever be getting Disgaea 5 on the Vita.

To the surprise of nobody who's been paying close attention.

The Vita had trouble with Disgaea 4, a PS 3 game.

A game designed for PS 4 has no chance in hell of working well on it.

Urg, Sorcery Saga flashbacks. That game is entirely about curry. That's not even a joke or an exaggeration. Everyone in the game is obsessed with curry, the plot is about saving a curry shop by finding the ingredients for the ultimate curry and no one in the game will shut up about curry.

Not to mention the cooking curry in dungeons mechanic.

So I've been playing D4 for the Vita after getting it a few days ago and Christ is it easy to break the game. Like setting Sister Artina as a character's archenemy and then killing her for a 150% stat boost thanks to her evility. Not to mention how ridiculously good characters like Tyrant Valvatorez are. Plus they made Stella even better.

I suppose I don't have Land of Carnage yet though. Though to balance that out I haven't even been to the item world since the one time you're forced to go.

T.Valvatorez is widely considered to be about as naturally OP as Disgaea units get, even in the original.

Meanwhile OP herself ends up being one of the most fun characters in the game. Especially as far as World runs are concerned.

I'm still surprised that Tyrant Valzy is so OP, since the original Valzy was already OP himself.

Then I looked it up and realized that Tyrant Valzy is literally just "Valzy, but his skills do more damage and his Evilities are more potent". They literally couldn't think of a way to make him more overpowered, so they just ramped up what he already had.

Well, giving him all around higher stats makes sense, though making his attacks just have a larger range than the normal Valzy was kind of lazy. Apart from Blood Sting anyway which replaces Bloody Hole. I don't think their Evilities are that similar though.

I should find out if Last Rites can be inherited. I know No Life King can't be but I don't use that anyway. Having Tyrant Val murder Artina at the start of every round is getting a little awkward.

I understand what the writers were going for, but eight years of psychological abuse doesn't just go away with an apology.

The Guided Fate Paradox's gameplay follows directly from ZHP, you're correct about that. But it's more similar than you seem to have noticed.

Hm. Maybe I should be paying more attention to the higher level magic spells given that I'm pretty sure Anime Tenchou and Holo just appeared in Omega Fire and Wind.

They did, in fact. And I think ice is the character from Astarotte No Omocha, which... is perhaps unfortunate?

EDIT: And it's redlinked for perhaps the same reason that it's unfortunate.

Ah, yeah, I actually did recognize her too, but since I didn't watch Lotte's Toy it slipped my mind.

I only knew who she was because I'd read about the cameos.

Holo's is great, though. It gives the spell a very different feeling.

For the record, the series she's from, once you look past the unfortunate premise that never goes anywhere, is essentially a somewhat dialed-back version of the early parts of Hayate the Combat Butler.

From The Other Wiki: "Lotte no Omocha! (ロッテのおもちゃ! Rotte no Omocha!?, "Lotte's Toy!") is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yui Haga about Naoya, a man brought to a magical world as a candidate for the Princess Astarotte's harem." This would be pretty pedestrian, I suppose, but Astarotte (Astaroth?) is a 10-year-old succubus.

And as says, the questionable premise apparently never goes anywhere? So maybe I reacted to strongly. It definitely sounds like something that fits the tone of Disgaea.

To give an example of how the series actually is:

On his first day, Naoya is told to go sleep with Lotte. This is a trick by Lotte, as she intends to have her head guard kill him if he tries.^note She hates men and wanted any excuse to kick him out. But Naoya had no intention of doing so, and instead gives her a handcrafted teddy bear and reads her a bedtime story.

Naoya later finds out that Lotte is the daughter of the mother of his own daughter (who's slightly older than Lotte).^note Before you assume a huge age gap, Naoya was still a kid at the time. It would have been pretty creepy if it actually did go somewhere, even if the female lead wasn't a 10-year-old.

I should note that the anime does end with that plot going somewhere. Sudden Gecko Ending, stayed vague enough to stay within good taste. The manga does not appear to.^note It has ended, but the last few volumes are untranslated ATM. Raws don't indicate that it does.
