I realized eventually that I was saving all my better-quality weapons until the point where a few HP more or less wouldn't make a significant difference and my characters' stats were terrific on their own.
Now I try to use my silver and steel weapons early when they have more of an impact, then all iron and slim later (killing weapons when I can find them).
Also, I've noticed weapons like the Armorslayer/Horseslayer are useless in 7 and 8 but godly in 6. Somebody brought down the nerf bat hard.

Only the sun has stopped. My Draft run helped to teach me to use the better weapons, as did my endurance run to a lesser extent.
You don't want to use that Silver weapon? FINE THEN. WE'LL KILL OFF MATTHEW AND YOU NEVER GET HIM BACK!
D: D: D:
Taking a break from FE1, for the FE8 draft insteadI usually stick to iron weapons in the GBA games because of CON being the determining stat for whether a weapon slows you down.
In PoR? Still usually iron because it's good enough and I'm cheap.
In RD? Steel's the norm because everyone can swing it easily after the first few chapters, it's plenty powerful, accurate enough, relatively cheap, and lasts longer than in the other games..
Custom silver only really shows up in the last chapters.
I find Steel useless. Not enough Hit or Might and heavier than any other type of weapon. And since Evade is based on Attack Speed which is based on Weight and CON, you're going to have a hard time dodging.

So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonI just do it on a case-by-case basis. 'Cause I'm cool like that.
Even with Steel by the time I'm using it regularly, enemies can barely hit me, and even if they do, I take little to no damage.
I also choose weapons on a case-by-case basis. I just use the weakest weapon that doesn't change the number of hits needed for a kill. Pretty straightforward.
I go by much the same methods as Balmung, when it comes weapon choice, and it hasn't failed me yet.

It's a fan made game based in the past of Elibe, with characters such as Uther and Hassar in their youth. Among other things, it has some downright amazing animations:
And here is Sol (paladin) and Astra.
The characters are all quite interesting, and it seems to be shaping up to have a really awesome story.
Here is a youtuber who is also a member of Serenes Forest playing through the two trial maps of the game. I'd suggest watching them once you have the time.

The battle window seems kinda cramped though because of all the stuff.

Oooh. The battle animations are quite nice, but that's just that. Battle animations. There's more to a game than that, but there's a whole site of stuff to look through that I haven't seen yet. With just the custom sprites and animations I can say that my interest is captured though.
If someone wants to accuse us of eating coconut shells, then that's their business. We know what we're doing. - Achaan ChahAh yes, seph1212. I greatly enjoy his stuff.
The one thing that bugs me about 7x is how many classes there are. What, exactly, is supposed to differentiate Shamans from vanilla Mages? I don't quite get it...
(yes, I know there are a whole bunch of basic class skills, shut up. Then again, a lot of those skills seem a bit too filler-y. It's nice that they gave Thieves the "Knife" skill that lets them attack from range, though.)

"Only now, after being besieged by a flock of talking ponies, did he really understand what he'd lost. "I'm confused. Shamans and Mages are both classes that are actually in the games, and they're completely different.
Dangit, what class was Magnus again? Anyway, they changed the names of a lot of the classes. For example, the class that is usually called Druid is "Wizard" instead in 7x (you get one in Trial 2 and he is so awesome). I can't remember if they changed the name of the base Dark Magic class usually known as Shaman, but I seem to remember Magnus' class being Shaman and he was certainly not a dark magic user.
"Only now, after being besieged by a flock of talking ponies, did he really understand what he'd lost. "7x Shamans are different from Normal Shamans (I know, kind of confusing. It's due to shaman being more related to nature.) Normal game Shamans are renamed to Sorcerers.
Roeis is indeed awesome, and he is also indeed a wizard.
On a related note, I would really suggest that you watch Seph1212's run of the trial maps, as they provide a nice look at the feel of the game, as well as many gameplay aspects.

"Only now, after being besieged by a flock of talking ponies, did he really understand what he'd lost. "If you were going to rename the Shaman class anything, why not Dark Mage, to match up with other games with Dark using classes?
Everyone knows Sorcerer is the renamed Druid (as seen in Shadow Dragon). (Dark Bishop is also acceptable)

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.Druids are now Wizards, the Druid being used as the second tier Shaman again, but for a different class tree.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/lb_i.php?lb_id=13239183440B34964700 Alfric's Fire Emblem Liveblog Encyclopedia!Wait, so you go from Sorcerer...to Wizard? Isn't that a step down usually?
Also, why didn't they just reuse Dark Mage and Dark Bishop from Jugdral? I can get not knowing about Sorcerer if the thing was made before Shadow Dragon though.</nitpick>

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.I know in Golden Sun, that while they're the end of two different class lines, the Sorcerer is basically just a gimped Wizard statistically.

So. Let's all pause for a moment to smell what the Rock was, is, and forever will be... cooking.—Cave JohnsonWait so it goes Mage-> Druid and then to either Sorcerer of Necromancer there? :?
Alt account of Angeldog 2437.Wasn't Necromancer Lyon's class?
I think so, yeah.
Wasn't it basically Druid + Summoner?
Lyon was cool.

Alt account of Angeldog 2437.
I switch to Silver if money isn't an issue. It's literally a slightly heavier, but much stronger Iron weapon thai outperforms Steel in everything but uses.
Until then, Iron and Killer suffice.
