I am easily amused by FMW stuff:
Superhuman "Hijiri Byakuren"
And then her finisher in Superhuman mode
A cool remix of a song I forgot existed.

Forever liveblogging the AvengersI was waiting for the curtain to be drawn back, and it was the enemy in some goofy underwear getting laughed at by the audience. Something like that would be neat for her "ancestors are watching you" spellcard.
What sells it is the open-mouthed, innocent smile on her face as she goes all Vegeta on someone.
At first I was like, "this doesn't sound like any Touhou song I know," and then I realized oh, it's not.
Current earworm: "Awe of the Unknown"Oh wow. Quite a few characters got some new super moves for FMW4. However, looking over the videos showing has left me with something that caught me off guard...
I was most certainly was not expecting the Watatsuki sisters to be playable.
I do lots of stuff. The real question is am I any good at that stuff.Superhuman?
More like super saiyan holy fuck
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaYes, it's Embryo's Dream.
Clearly you haven't read the design document, which says that every single character must be playable eventually.
I have no idea what Embryo's Dream even did.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!From what I can tell, Koishi forces the enemy to dream of the beginning of all life and basically shuts them down mentally
apparently based off a japanese sci-fi novel
i keep forgetting how fucked up some of koishi's spellcards are

"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaEmbryo's dream is ultimately based on recapitulation theory
Does this include the OCs?
Sadly, no. Meeko does not join you for the final battle, even though she totally should because she's a great character.

Which one is she?
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe sheep.
Oh yeah she's delightful
Forever liveblogging the AvengersYeah, I first heard of the inspiration of Embryo's Dream from this series of videos where someone was playing all the scenes of Double Spoiler (as Aya) and making caption commentary over them. Also with neat remixes of each character's music over the whole thing. They interpreted the card's stages as going through the stages of life's development, from monocellular life (the tiny bullets) to primitive multicellular life (the aimed clusters) to animals and plants (the spheres and the fern-looking growing bullet patterns) to the light of the world the new life is entering (the lasers).
It's interesting stuff.

I have a message from another time...So something struck me as odd with Nemuno.
In Touhou, yamanba are believed to eat humans who get lost in the mountain, but are actually harmless women who prefer to be left alone.
However, youkai changes their nature according to beliefs. So shouldn't Nemuno and other yamanba be actual man-eaters? The barrier prevents this somewhat, but Nemuno is implied to not even know about the barrier, so she has been unaffected by beliefs all the time.
OTOH, Kintarō is an old legend that is part of public perception of mountain hags. So, the whole "they actually raise human infants" bit is itself part of human belief of what mountain hags are like.
Speaking of Kintarō, I wonder if Suika would have anything to say about that story. Nemuno knows that story as a legend, but Suika lived part of it, if she's still meant to be an interpretation of Shuten-Doji.
I have a message from another time...Tacky gaming keyboard get (why does it have pulsing green backlight?), so thoughts now that I've played the demo:
- Speeds are meaningfully different between characters again! (Reimu is like a turtle)
- I find it odd that Aya's focused speed isn't especially fast
- I find the faster characters way easier to use. Heresy, I know, but the stages really reward speedkilling
- Youkai are playable, but I'm not sure they're very good? Aya and Cirno have damage problems
- Strikes me as a bit harder than usual
- Marisa is amazing. Don't need coverage when you deal massive damage and can be anywhere you want!
- Timers are really low. Even with everything maxed timing out is a very really possibility
- Summer is way more useful than I was expecting
- Scoring well seems to be very dependent on routing, which is kind of awkward with extends being score-based

Doesn't answer the "harmless to adults" part, though.
Also I saw some Reisen U Li L matches, and I'm amused one of her intro is getting thrown into the arena by Tewi. Even more, one of her palette is Kaguya-color, and if you choose that Tewi will dress like Eirin.
Mental image of Reisen and Tewi dressing up as Kaguya and Eirin and doing silly impressions of them when (Reisen thinks) they aren't watching.
I have a message from another time...
Damn son. That attack from Yuuka looked awesome. Now I really have to get back to playing the FMW games.
I do lots of stuff. The real question is am I any good at that stuff.
