On the fighting game, the roster seems to be confirmed to be 20 characters. So since everyone from past game is returning, it means 5 new characters. I feel like two of the will be brand new characters, so that leaves three old characters.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru! We haven't had 2 new characters in a fighter since SWR, though
I doubt we'll get much in terms of political commentary as well. It's most likely a small reference to the Outside World, much like the Berlin Wall thing in FS.
I don't think "post-truth" is necessarily specific political commentary anyway. It's more like a general commentary on modern society. I don't think it's much different from what he did with Mamizou's tsukumogami social network in FS.
I mean, frankly, ZUN seems to have been fascinated by the power of words to change the "truth" for a while now. That's literally Sagume's ability, and the whole urban legend thing that derived from. More recently, Akyu's taken the explicit stance that people should "choose the truth that's best for them." So he's already doing commentary on this sort of thing. He's obviously not going to dress Miko up in a Trump suit and mock her; that's just not how he does things. He's much more fascinated by what this sort of thing means on a personal or societal level. I doubt he would consider it a "Western" problem either.

I'm guessing that one of the teams will be Reimu/Mokou.
Having actually read that section of the interview now, what he says is that there are around 20 total characters this time around, so they felt being able to choose more than one at once would make it feel like less of a waste. The idea was actually pushed by Tasofro first, and ZUN had to write the story around it. "Possession" is the keyword the entire game is built around (it's also in the kanji of the title).
From this, I would gather that A) Possession is the tag-team mechanic, and B) You don't have a preset team, or at least not for versus mode. It sounds more like the Marvel v. Capcom thing where you choose whichever back-up members you want from the entire roster. The whole point is to get more characters picked total.
Sometimes I wonder where people have been living that politics-disergarding-facts is a new thing.
ZUN hasn't seen enough Touhou fanart, it seems.
And that's how I ended up in the wardrobe. It Just Bugs Me!x6 Kasen fills the role of the newcomer midboss. The question is just whether the pattern really is "bonus boss, then newcomer, and repeat", or if that was just because HM was a reboot with new characters.
I imagine that Story mode will have a set team, and Versus lets you choose. That seems more likely, so we won't be getting the full game three years later.

Oh yeah, he also promised that it would be out in 2017. More details when we're closer to Reitaisai (where they'll probably release a demo?).
Thankies, that's very good to know! Hype level increasing

This page is full of interesting posts!
Holy crap, I STILL KEEP forgetting about the new game ULIL expansion!
Awesome! LET THE SPECULATION BEGIIIINNNNNN!!! (Man, with the "Possession" keyword, and Kosuzu being in such a prominent spotlight lately... I still think it's possible she might be in, in some way...)
Very true, yes. Someone should, though ;D
She is already acting like a supervillain in ULIL, anyway
Holy cow! That will be super interesting to watch!

Apparently, today (3rd of March) was Hinamatsuri. That would explain all the hina doll motif and pictures of Hina I've been seeing.
Murdering time and space. Now on Twitter.Oh Akyuu. I knew your words of wisdom sounded familiar. Did you perhaps here them from a rabbit of unusually dark complexion?note
(I'm still here and still following along. Still glad to see everyone's doing well.)
I'm excited about what is to come!
But it's way past bedtime and I'm (voluntarily) short on blood, so sleepitimes are good.
I write some fanfiction. Satori's Tale is done... but I'm not.Black Tewi Rule is now canon, it is a glorious day to be a Touhou fan.
Song of the SirensIt kind of always had been canon.
I really wish the Black Tewi Postulate comic didn't have her going on about the colors of the characters' panties. It's otherwise a really cute page that I could use to illustrate the principle in other fandoms.
That is very good to hear, best wishes to you, Mr. Antimatter
It's always a glorious day for that! But yes, a nice observation from Mr. Antimatter there.
That pic is really pretty, a bit risqué on Renko there, but very pretty nonetheless. As to the song, ever since Lyrica Live blessed the world with her version, I am Deaf To All But That Song, as it were
I understand. That phenomenon of forcing inappropriate sexual stuff into so many works, even if completely out of place within the work itself, also really bothers me. The most baffling example for me is one collection of humourous Touhou manga that I really, really like, very hilarious; but in the middle of the first story, for exactly one panel, never mentioned again, never having anything like it before or since in all the stories, Eiki gropes Komachi's breasts for absolutely no reason. Why.
Almost seems like kind of a gatekeeping thing, sometimes.
I found the picture used in the video. If anyone wants the full thing.
Murdering time and space. Now on Twitter.Same here. I don't mind it myself, but at times I've relented from showing those panels to show to others the series' appeal, knowing that that part might put them off.
And that's how I ended up in the wardrobe. It Just Bugs Me!
I recall HM having a reference to western politics or two thrown in, as well. I'm not really expecting this to amount to much
