playing now. chose sumireko because i saw her sleeping on a fucking bench outside the outside world's hakurei shrine and thought that was hilarious
and i discovered that she has this◊ type, which i think is new?
EDIT: found a hidden seija right next to the route 1 rest house. little fuck was hiding in a barrel.
EDIT 2: i'm just gonna keep editing in my new finds. new type does little damage against poison and is super effective against wind. as if wind needed more weaknesses
edit 3: human village is completely remapped. lots more un-enterable houses. AUGH FUCK KISUME IS IN THE WELL

"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaSo what are the types?
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!Well, that would make reincarnations somewhat easier.
Current type chart.◊ The expansion is adding a few more.

Yes, they changed it so starters get S instead of A+. Not actually that much more powerful, but it feels better. Peace of mind.
Anyway, you run slightly faster, your first slot puppet follows you around on the map, trainer AI has been deactivated, for the starter bosses at least (ie: they use random moves instead of trying to target your weaknesses), and the plot seems to diverge after beating Rumia. Instead of Akyuu telling you to go ask Alice, she shows you to Kosuzu's house and we're set on a quest to gather youma books that might tell us something about the puppets. Mamizou sneaks you out of the village (normally they're blocked and Akyuu gives you permission, here it's Mamizou in an Akyuu disguise), but that's where the demo ends.
New type is called Distortion. Junko's ability is called Embodiment of Revenge and makes her shoot back when she dies, although I can't test it since it only works on moves that are 70 or stronger. She also learns Revenge at level 10, which is pretty early for its power. I thought that was cute. Sagume reverses enemy buffs, which is particularly funny because the stupid AI will spam them.

Oh yeah, and your starter starts with an item now: Dream Fragment ("raises all stats when held by a special puppet. Cannot exceed the limit(?)")
And this: [1]◊
Edit: And if you get hit by Weak twice you get Heavy Weak. No idea what that does (normally it prevent healing).

"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~Civiademo over
cant wait for the 30th
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~Civia@ Yukari being useless: Yukari probably knew that the Lunars weren't fighting at full force, if they REALLY wanted Gensokyo they would have brought the Moonbitc-er, i mean The Watatsukis in. Not a bunch of stupid rabbits. As for the Barrer, there are a few possibility's for that one:
1. Renko breaking into Gensokyo was somehow important to Maribel becoming Yukari through weird time travel hi-jinks. Yukari couldn't do jackshit without causing a time paradox.
2. Yukari's just an asshole, and didn't do anything because she fought it would be funny to see what would happen.
3. Yukari isn't an asshole, she's just bored of Gensokyo and wanted to see how they would react without her help.
4. Yukari WAS there but she was maintaining the border around the final battle to make sure that no one in the outside world saw it. She didn't tell anyone because she wants people to think she doesn't care about Gensokyo. Thus making her a feared Youkai.
5. Yukari's getting old. She broke a hip or something and had to go to Eirin to fix it, thus she couldn't be there for ULIL.
6. Yukari was asleep. Her greatest weakness.
7. Yukari was out shopping.
8. Yukari DOES care about Gensokyo, but she does the most minimal amount of work possible maintaining the border (Or pretty doing anything), partially because she's lazy and partially because she's getting old. So she has other people do the work for her, like Ran and Reimu. But wait, your probably saying, then why the fuck did she do shit in earlier games? Because she's been getting pretty old since Mountain Of Faith, so she has less time to do shit.
9. All, or a combination, of the above.
10. She was out shopping.
That probably won't change your opinion of Yukari, but i thought i'd provide some perspective from someone who loves Yukari to death......even thou she's kind of a creepy and lazy asshole. (Also i was really bored.)

"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaHaha! Your effort is very much appreciated, Mr. shrunkmyself. But no need to worry! As I stated often before, I don't actually dislike any Touhou character! So, no Yukari Hate from me; but I do admit that ever since the ULIL Ending with her in it got revealed/translated, I have been having a lot of fun ribbing on her. I'd say it's understandable in this circumstance (you had ONE JOB, Yukari! ^^) But it's pretty much just joking, I still like her fine as a colossal Badass in the Fighting Games and a cool Mastermind in SSIB.
But yeah, admittetly, the trope of establishing a hyper-powerful character as a sort-of-Ruler/Protector within an entire franchise, only to then never have them do anything when bad stuff happens does irk me a bit, but, heck, that's not just limited to me and not to Touhou at all. See also: pretty much any piece of fiction ever where the heroes are not actually the most powerful Good Guys (Harry Potter, Pony, Order of the Stick, Lord of the Rings, and so on...). There always have to be contrivances why the hyper-powerful Big Goods don't just snap their fingers to solve everything. And the fans always have to desperately find rationalizations for why it might make sense in-universe (out-of-universe, it's of course obvious, since the heroes need something to do).
"Mystia is a former German nun“ -Clarste //// "[...]collectively, we have the power to destroy the Aki sandwich" -ClarsteHey, Yukari does things to help! Like that time she plunged Gensokyo into unending night so she could attack some immigrants. Or that time she beat up the Three Fairies of Light and called them weaklings. Or that time she stole Rinnosuke's iPod.
I created a trope page for TPDP after an anon on /vp/ mentioned that it didn't have one. I'm only a fraction of the way through the game, so I would appreciate it if you guys could help add some examples.
