Damnit I already had the Mayan Altar "toolbox" prepared and everything.

The first thing that comes to mind as an Anti-Cirno is Eirin, but I don't think I could explain that any better than "she's really smart".

Futo might work too for entirely different reasons.

Of course none of these at all resemble an anti-Cirno if you're not told so beforehand. You'd just want something of her being tormented in some way.

For no paricular reason it ocurred to me that Rumia may suffer from the same problem as Wriggle: Humans no longer fear what she represents

Maybe she actually is a grue, but is listed as 'youkai' because no one in Gensoukyou recognizes them?

They should at least have decency to call like something like "darkness youkai" or something.

Speaking of generic youkais, I have started to think up couple of theories with Meiling. One is that she is born from people's ideas of a supernatural martial artist guard. Other being that she was once a human but turned into youkai after training her skills.

She is a martial artist who slew a thousand youkai in defense of her village, shedding her humanity and becoming that which she fought.

And then she said welp guess I'd better go work as a gardener for a vampire.

And she did.

Meiling's list of life goals is full of checks.

"Youkai" is a really general term. I think that it'd also apply to grues.

For Anti-Cirno, I propose Blaze Cirno!

Speaking of FMW 3, I just realized today that the combined IN + SA + SSIB thing they've got going in that game is perhaps the most epic Touhou story every told or tellable, at least in terms of awesome music and boss fights. Well, I haven't actually played it yet, I just have to assume it is because I can't see how it wouldn't be.

It very likely is. The way they change around the details very much helps with this too, especially with so many characters constantly interacting (in some cases prematurely, like the UFO cast). There's a much bigger scale and impact to all the events.

Although I am categorically opposed to moon rabbits being as competent as they are in-game. Except for Reisen because she gets to be cool for pretty much the whole thing for once.

Frankly I'm not sure having a huge cast is actually a good thing? I mean, do I really need to spend a chapter fighting Sunny-tachi (again) so they can join my party (again), and then another chapter rescuing Lily White and the Prismriver sisters from Tewi?

I mean, having prior interactions has some value, like I assume it will for the intra-party fights that aren't just stupid fairies (Keine, Mokou, Reimu/Marisa), but having a too huge cast is mostly kind of annoying. Then again, that's also the entire point of the game, but I'd prefer to keep interactions limited to a more core cast.

to be fair, FMW 4 is supposedly gonna be the last one, with UFO and PoFV

Kinda wished they saved SA for last as it kinda has the most "final boss" final boss.
