Well, what if the study of magic became Marisa's youkai purpose? She just... became a youkai that studies magic instead of a "proper" youkai magician?

Well that was not pointless at all! It's probably even more than I expected. The description of her as she is now is very brief, but there's a twist and a backstory and that's just enough for me to make an interesting character out of her.

And to say that Ichirin is a Pokemon Trainer and Unzan is a Ditto.

That's right, there was that whole thing about he who hunt's monsters becomes one or something. 100 youkai was the point of no return, IIRC?

Wait, if Sanae becomes a youkai, would she still be a god, too? Living god is a human god... what's a youkai god?

Or would she be a youkai-human-god? Sanae, your existance is confusing. Stay what you are.

I write some fanfiction. Satori's Tale is done... but I'm not.

Reimu is lazy, she only hunts youkai when there is a big incident.

Hina is a youkai-god so Sanae might become something like this if she is not careful.

I'm almost serious, even. Their relationship sounds eerily similar to Pokemon-Trainer-hood. She even has the hood for it.

And the idea of her being a youkai because they became one another's "youkai purpose" is mighty interesting, too.

I know this is going to sound pretty bad, but could someone submit that translation to the wiki? I would totally do it, but I kinda want to keep trying to get more than 2-ish hours of sleep for the long day ahead...

In the case of youkai hunters turning into youkai, I think it's the single-minded insanity that does it. Reimu lacks that. And Sanae isn't entirely human to begin with (and flaunts it), which likely puts her more at risk

She dropped common sense anyway. That's what'll get her.

And the fact that Ichirin and Unzan are BF Fs rather than master and servant is also important. That was a very helpful translation.

Insanity? That could do it. Also, mightn't Sanae be -more- resistant to such a change? Humans sometimes become Youkai, but I don't think gods ever do.

Soga no Tojiko

The bourei of a human from ancient times. Carries a grudge against humans, its nature is that of the so-called vengeful spirit. Although she serves Toyosatomimo no Miko as a vassal along with Mononobe no Futo, unlike Futo she didn't become a shikaisen along with Miko, instead remaining as a bourei. As for why, she seems to have been set up by Futo.

To begin with, Futo and Tojiko were mutual enemies from the struggle over Buddhism. Although in the end Tojiko's side won, it seems she responded to Futo's appeal to work together in secret. The details of the plan were along the lines of "We'll let Buddhism rule for now, but after Miko revives and becomes a powerful leader we can both revive as her chiefs of staff."

The temporary body that she's using is a jar. (*1)*

She wanted to move to a new body that would never decay, but Futo switched it with an unbaked jar. If Tojiko attached her soul to it, it would easily melt away. To prevent that, she gave up on having a physical body and remained a bourei.

As for why Futo did such a thing, it's surely because of a grudge from the conflict between their two families that led to the downfall of the Mononobe. Although she realized the deception immediately after becoming a bourei, it turned out that not having a physical body was surprisingly pleasant so she doesn't seem to mind too much.

Her personality is unsuitably tender-hearted.
