Could still keep the film as the Trope Namer. He Shot Liberty Valance?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.DQZ, how is that any better at all? Lol.
BTW, I'm a chick.Well, it's not the name of the work.
https://angelskingsandweirdos.com ''Where imagination takes wing... and then gets sucked into a jet turbine."If you wanted to retain the reference, He Who Shot Liberty Valance sounds good

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. But it makes the title no less opaque. Maybe if there was a question mark or something - "Who Shot Liberty Valence?" - it'd at least give the impression that there's doubt about which character did the killing.
BTW, I'm a chick.Actually He Shot Liberty Valance.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Should I make a crowner?
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.crowner is premature. I think we need some more discussion to see if we can find a title that doesn't reference Liberty Valance.
Although that is an extremely famous example of this trope, and is commonly cited as a "Who Shot Liberty Valance Scenario"
Which by the way is also a possible rename.
"I think we need some more discussion to see if we can find a title that doesn't reference Liberty Valance."
It's not referencing that's the issue. It's having the exact name. Or maybe that's what you meant and the wording just seems wonky to me.
Either way, Who Shot Liberty Valance is a good one.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Needs a more literal redirect at least. John Wayne was a cultural icon, but of the last generation. This one, not so much. And the title sounds like a whodunit trope.

I like the existing title, despite it being a work title, because the work itself is just such a perfect distillation of the trope. It's literally the entire point of the movie.
The problem is that it creates confusion.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.C'mon, you're all thinkin' it. :)
The Man On The Grassy Knoll would be misused frequently. Which sucks because that's a pretty good name.
If it's just the full-title copy that's a problem, Liberty Valance Shooter?

But Liberty Valance doesn't mean anything unless you know the work in question.
Fight smart, not fair. That's why I like Actually He Shot Liberty Valance, since it gives context.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Bump.

Keeper of The Celestial FlameWhy not just create a separate "Work" page for the movie and put a link to it on the "Trope" page?

The problem is that the name isn't very clear about what the trope is about.
Fight smart, not fair.
Crown Description:
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is named for a work.
EDIT: Crowner
