I'm calling it now. They're going to pull a Remember the New Guy on a minor character from the comics and that person will be the one that falls using the identity of one of the Team and that Team member will be reborn using a new alias.

With Godfrey involved, appearences last season by Fourth World characters why is there so little theorizing about the partner being Darkseid?

Mostly because it's one of those 'eh, it's been done' things. And you forgot about Ugly Mannheim and his Apokoliptian tech tongue Personally, I'd find it highly entertaining if the stuff with Godfrey and whatnot turned out to be totally unrelated to the Light, and Darkseid was scoping out Earth because he knew the Reach was there, and they'd pissed him off by 'acquiring' one of his planets. And also because he dislikes Earth and its 'Legends', given that I seriously doubt that the League hasn't thwarted him at least a few times.

I thought that Intergang has always been really tight with Apokolips in DC canon.

To be honest that is a perfectly logical conclusion to the two plots established in Depth.

Does anyone else see Meg'gan falling to the dark side due to violent mind probing being revealed and/or being left out of the loop on Artemis and Aqua Lad?

Also, on a more general note, who wants to see more Blue Beetle?

[up] Ooh, me!

And yeah- the more I think about it, the more I suspect that Miss Martian is going to Mind Rape either Kaldur or Artemis by accident. There will be much angst. I'm not sure if the victim will recover or not, though.

I don't care for Blue Beetle. I prefer Brave and the Bold's version.

Actually, aside from the different voice, I think this depiction is great. I mean, they seem to be limiting his powers, but you can say he's still learning how to use the suit. Really though, they brought in elements about his character that really created the appeal to me. He cares about his friends and family and he's just as concerned with their problems as he is with the super hero stuff. Some of the stuff he handles in that field is pretty heavy, too. You saw the whole abuse thing. They portrayed that well. Not only that, but they had him reacting to it in a mostly level-headed manner. He didn't beat the guy up, even though he could have and the guy probably deserved it.

I don't know what to say.
I haven't been reading the new run for financial reasons, but everything I've seen of Jaime as the Blue Beetle has me liking him as a hero. That's exactly what he is, too. A hero. Genuine heroes are actually becoming much harder to find in comics nowadays.

Perhaps a stupid question but why did Nightwing, Aqualad, KF, and Artemis decide to leave Miss Martian out of the loop? I mean, wouldn't it have been wiser and easier to keep the telepathic shape-shifter in on the plot? I assume the purpose was so that Artemis's death would be believable because the League and the Team would be visibly in mourning, and along these lines it makes sense that they wouldn't inform the new team members or Superboy, but keeping MM in the dark seems unnecessary, and as many have already pointed out, potentially tragic. MM is probably the best actor they have on the Team, so it just doesn't make sense to me.

Just to set up the Angst/Wangst of course. Informing MM would have been the smart thing and would have make such an obviously terrible and likely scenario impossible to happen.

These are the guys who write the main villians as shadows who basically say' Just as planned.'

The Light plus all the extra-solar types combined == little bad.

Megan herself == The Big Bad.

Any questions? (This will be made obvious when she slips to the short cut of simply making her enemies love her above all else.)

Hmm. Thinking about it, if the telepathy were removed from the equation, Nightwing would actually be following fairly sound operational security procedures; the only people who actually know about this are the ones who have to know. Nightwing's doing the planning, Kaldur and Artemis are the operatives. The only one who I'm kind of iffy on is Wally, and even there... given his temper, I'm thinking that including him was prudent, since otherwise you have a supersonic wildcard that's half-crazed with grief and rage tromping all over your plans.

That and a good planner takes the human factors into account as well; even if he doesn't go off the deep end going after Artemis' 'killer' (after beating Dick unconscious for being an unwitting accomplice to the murder), the chances of him blowing the lid off accidentally by Artemis telling him beforehand but not being able to brief him properly (incomplete intel is not something you want on the friendly side of the field, especially in the hands of a highly skilled ex-operative with a personal connection to one of your deep-cover assets), or blurting something out after a confrontation with Mantalad's troops, or even him successfully tracking her down after her 'death' and announcing to everyone that she's alive, which would be something of a spanner in the works.

So yeah. I can see the wisdom of including Wally in the planning stages. Not telling Miss Martian... eh. From where I sit, circumstances would actually have to be a bit contrived for her to come over all brain-rapey. The only reason Artemis would have to refuse to talk, or resist a scan, would be because Black Manta or some of his loyalists had also been captured and were there in the same room, in which case, why is Miss M going after her? I seriously doubt that Miss M, even as far gone as she seems to be, would refuse to remove her pendant pre-brainrape, particularly if her surface scans were getting 'I'm Artemis in a magic disguise, you imbecile!'

Narratively speaking... yeah, tricking Miss Martian into thinking Artemis is dead, then inserting Artemis into the very forces that Miss M thinks murdered her? Yeah, that's coming back to bite them. But from a black ops perspective? The old truism still holds- if two people know a secret, it's not a secret.

Heh. Not even remotely. Like many of those who frequent these boards, I'm an aspiring writer and a voracious reader with a fondness for language, so I tend to slip into the 'appropriate' terminology when discussing a given topic. It's actually caused me embarrassment a few times when I belatedly realized how far out of my depth a conversation has gotten, simply because my word choice implied I knew far more than I did. Oops [lol]

Also, I've done a little research on the whole black ops thing, since it falls at least vaguely into the spectrum of things I wish to write about. That and it's just interesting in general, heh tongue
