Friendly reminder that EO2U's Story Mode theme is available now for 99 cents. The Cafe and Classic themes will be available on July 21st and July 28th respectively.

EO2U demo will be available tomorrow on Thursday (assuming it doesn't get delayed a second time). I heard it will feature the first three floors despite what the website says.

I've finished the demo, aside from killing one of each of those dinosaur enemies and grinding Grimoires. It looks a lot better than the original Untold for sure.

Seeing as the Cooking System in EO 2 U seems to have had a lot of love put into it, I plan on making a FAQ for it.

I do need a bit of help collecting all of the bits of dialogue from the restaurant for each option, though. I might need to reset my demo data (hopefully I can back it up), but I would appreciate it if anyone could help collect the dialogue between Regina and the cast each time you make a new recipe.

Agreed, I honestly expected more posts. Anyways, some nice things I noticed in the demo was that they implemented several of the dynamic map icons from Persona Q, but toned down the overpowered shortcut icon. I mean, seriously, a single icon that automatically adjusts to the correct icon if dropped on a shortcut, but stays a different icon if it's not on a shortcut? On the other hand, the chest icon is the same as Q's (function wise, at least) and is perfect just the way it is.

I also liked how it's now clear what skills you can automatically learn by investing in other skills. The fact that food boosts last until you overwrite them instead of merely one trip is very useful. The ability to change classes for your squad members is nice, the continuing use of the easier material system from Untold and Q... Honestly, I could go on and on.

The best part? The full game is coming out either the same day or the day before I'm taking a long road trip for some shopping that just can't be done in town. Now, do I have a car charger for my 3DS...?

Edit: Yes, the release date stateside is August 4, aka a week from today.

It's out now. Can't wait to play this all day!

...Is what I would say, if I didn't have work the next six days straight. sad

Guess I'll have to play in increments.

I've heard the classic mode is unbalanced or something and bosses have tons of health, but I don't mind challenge and will probably still go for it, unless you can use monsters in story mode too.

[up][up]Beasts are apparently tied to the story in story mode. Don't think you get one permanently.

Not sure why classic mode would be the unbalanced one, story mode only has one attacker. Princess, Protector, Survivalist and War Magus are all support characters, the Fafnir is an Imperial on speed. Even so, the base classes will be much more consistent in damage dealing compared to Faffy.

Not really a fan of overly wordy J-RPG s anyway so I'll probably pass on story mode. Hope the demo has classic to mess around with.

Wulfgar is a brief guest character at the beginning of Story Mode before Chloe and Bertrand join, so you get to see how the class works then.

As far as Classic Mode being unbalanced, several other classes like Dark Hunter are capable of putting out obscene damage, so there should be no worries there.

Aah... no classic in the demo. That's a shame. Not sure if I want to commit to the full thing but I'll give the demo a thorough shot at least.

Thank god there's an option to turn off the voices.

I haven't tried Story Mode in the first Untold beyond the demo, but EO2U's demo already had me sold on the Story Mode party based on the team's interactions already.

So far, I'm digging how the game has stuff like telling you which stats affect which skills and the autobattle confirmation. I was on my second run, but I'm separated from my 3DS because of a trip I'm on.

[up]Agreed. Personally, I'm not a fan of playing dungeon crawlers with voices, but this one will probably be an exception. I really like the cast this time around.

It really isn't compared to EO 2 U.

I had to pause my gameplay since I have work today. Managed to kill Chimera (and get its conditional!) beforehand, though.

Decided to make a Classic mode save to take advantage of the extra save slots. My initial party of Ronin Protector Beast Medic Alchemist had some issues, so I swapped out to Highlander Protector Medic Alchemist Gunner. What a unique par... Wait a minute...

Incidently, the first wave of DLC launched with the game, and the extra character portraits, Highlander class, and first DLC boss are free for a while. The one paid DLC currently out... Is kinda broken, in much the same way The Golden Gaffe was for FE Awakening.

[up]Haha what are the odds?

I'm actually playing Untold 1 right now, story mode. I was hoping I'd be able to take Gladsheim at its own pace and I'm a bit steamed I was blocked from progressing in the Labyrinth until Coeurl was dead, since he stonewalled me hard for a long time. Just finished winning that fight by a hair, Ricky and Simon had about ten HP between them and the rest of the party was belly up after a last minute attack-all wiped them. If an early Ricochet hadn't whiffed every shot I'd have finished with everyone alive. sad

On that note, is Simon better as a healbot or a supporting frontliner? I don't have enough raw levels to get competent Grimoire stones, but he's going to get some defense ups as soon as I can make that happen either way.

yeah, i just ran into that roadblock where im told to go back to gladsheim so frederica doesnt kneecap me, and i was hoping to avoid gladsheim until the boss wasnt so intimidating to fight.

My takeaway is that the mansion's teas really help. If you've got the max TP boosting one and Salve at 4 you're probably fine, if you can do enough damage. Bring single target ice magic, and some buffs (hello Bloody Offense).

Unrelated, am I the only one who wants an EO with all unconventional classes? Throw out the Dn D derivatives, make the primary castes the Hexer, and use the Highlander/Fafnir/Wanderer/other weird classes.

Oh, God, that Coeurl fight... total Wake-Up Call Boss material, and it's not like I'm unfamiliar with how Etrian Odyssey works.

In EOU1, I actually find that Simon works best for me using a Grimoire stone that allows either bow or gun use, so he can do decent damage from the back row. He has a decent enough attack stat that I like him using Attack at least half the time (even more frequently if I'm not gunning for rare drops based on the statuses he can inflict), but his armor selection is too poor to have him up front, taking blows, for the most part. If he could wear even medium armor, I'd feel better about sticking him in front.

I'm making a FAQ for the restaurant in the second Untold, though I'd appreciate it if I could get some assistance due to the time constraints of my job.

Here's the format I'm using. I appreciate any help anyone can give.

Thus far I have: Hi Lagaar Coffee, Escargot Citron, Walnut Rye Bread, Deer Steak, Stir-Fried Roller, Citron Owl Bowl, Seared Deer, Black Tea, Butterfly Tsukudani, Owl Cartilage Karaage, Walnut Yokan, Forest Deer Sukiyaki, Mala Inferno Pot, Yggdrasil-Bud Tea, and Yggdrasil-Sprout Tea.

[up][up]Hm. Well, I just put him in the front row for the first time. I'll try spec'ing him towards Caduceus for the time being. I'm going to have to reset around the 40s anyway, can already see a lot of skillpoints put to better use elsewhere.

...Let me guess, the conditional drop for the Ragelope involves either head binds or slash-type final attacks?

(Yes, I decided to pet the deer. And by "pet", I mean "kill". It honestly wasn't as hard as I was expecting for a Lvl 11 story mode party. Got a decent load of Venison, too.)
