With SEED Freedom now out in Japanese theaters, my concern is when it will get theatrical releases outside Japan (I remember hearing that it will). This is concerning for me because I'm a Philippine resident who got into Gundam because of Cosmic Era (I'm even rewatching SEED Destiny after I finished rewatching SEED).
There’s a lot happening in this movie. From what I’ve seen and read, there’s enough plot for a full 12 episode season at least.

The funniest bit I've seen was the BIG SPOILERS villains attempting to use their mind reading powers on Shinn in battle but failing because Stella appears as a newtype ghost, turns into a banshee demon that scares the shit out of them. That's right, Shinn is immune to mind reading because of his PTSD.

Assuming Netflix doesn't snatch this up I can imagine this getting a theatrical release in the US like Narrative did.
Would make a lot of nostalgia points for Seed fans.

There’s a scene at the end celebrations where Murrue takes off her helmet, jumps from the captain’s chair into Mu’s arms, wraps her legs around Mu’s waist and the two start making out in front of everyone.

One can definitely see the Cross Ange DNA here, with Orphee being Embryo Jr. and the MSF being a gender-swapped Vilkiss more or less alongside general insanity like Aura being Lacus's mother.
Supposedly final scene of the movie is Kira and Lucas making out on a beach.

Doesn't sound like it. SEED already was pretty sexed up, with a pretty decent amount of fanservice spread all throughout. Sounds like it would just be splitting hairs.
This doesn't sound like it's jumping from a PG-13 to an R, it just sounds like going from a 7 to a 7.5

Minor character spoiler: Supposedly, Hilda (the leader of the DOM squad) becomes sort of a good mentor for Shinn. That or they just seem to have some scenes together, in and out of battle.

So apparently the movie tries to justify the infamous "unlimited power mobile suit still runs out of power" bit from Destiny. Is there a trope for that kind of retroactive correction?
I don’t know what the movie says about that but I don’t understand why people take issue with that. It seemed like it just used more power than it was capable of generating. It’s doesn’t have unlimited power, because that’s impossible.

Most of what I've been hearing is positive. People are making jokes about certain writing decisions, but not being too disparaging.
Everyone seems to agree that it is a VAST improvement over Destiny at the very least (low bar, but still).
All that said, though, I haven't seen anybody post a full critical review of it as of yet, whether from an English-speaker who saw the movie or translated from Japanese.
