A Game of Gods: A Multiversal Challenge

Travis stood with everyone else and groaned when the tree started singing.

"Damn, I don't think I can surplex a tree.....Mind if I shut him up?" He said, pulling out The Blood Berry, which now had a more black and dark gothic look.

"That would explain this change..." said Hahli, looking down at herself.

"Don't even think about it cowboy. You cannot stop the Metal!"

Narumi listened to the song. "Pft, kids today with their death metal." Narumi said.

"Do I look like a fucking cowboy to you?"

Ravage started as a pair of rotting, maggoty burst out of the ground to either side of him. A pair of jovial-looking zombies pulled themselves free of the cobbles and took the protesting jaguar by the wrists, not perturbed in the slightest when the Decepticon's new axeblade lashed out to decapitate them.

"Come with us and you will see," they sang. "It's our town of Halloween!"

"NO!" screamed Ravage, digging his claws into the ground in a futile effort to prevent them pulling him along. Other creatures of the night, hearing the song, began to waddle over and join in.

"This is Halloween! This is Halloween!" sang the tree and its skeletons, swaying back and forth as a pair of witches flew in circles around its trunk.

"Pumpkins scream in the dead of night!" crooned a quartet of jack-o-lanterns, every odd beat of their lyric punctuated by a wet splat as they fell onto a spiked fencepost.

"This is Halloween! Everybody make a scene!"

"Trick or treat, 'til the neighbour's gonna die of fright!"

Jorge's mouth opened and closed several times as he tried to speak, but the words didn't come, until everyone around them began to sing along.

"Oh...my...GOD."

"IT'S OURN TOWN!!! EVERYBODY SCREAM!!!" wailed a pair of ghosts as they burst into view less than an inch from the turian's skeletal face. Their spectral hands latched onto the turian's bony arms and began to pull him towards the town square.

"In this town of Halloween..."

-Saren's lower jaw descends; an unearthly shriek fills the air-

Travis watched Ravage get dragged off, soon followed by Saren. He clutched his ears from the Turian's scream, before igniting his Beam Katana, which now had a black beam.

"Stay away you freaks!"

"I think my ears are bleeding...oh yes, they're definitely bleeding, alright."

Jorge looked at the rest of the group. Though his face was obscured, they could tell that he was desperate to leave.

"Let's get the hell out of here. Now. Please."

"For once, I agree with you."

-Eddie shook his head in sorrow at the lack of METAL!!! in the souls of his companions-

Some people just can't appreciate art...

   Co-operate, fools, and maybe this will end sooner.   

"Oh look, Saren got dragged off...again. I'm not going after him."

   Do you like the feeling of being deaf, Spartan?   

"If it means being unable to hear this mind-grating, ear-splitting, insanity-inducing trash they call a song, then yes, Saren, I'd enjoy the feeling of being deaf. Unfortunately, the music is not even close to reaching the decible levels needed to permanently damage my ear drums, so I'm out of luck. I'm getting angry, Saren. Really. Angry."

"Hey Jorge, would you get mad if I started indiscriminately killing the guys who won't shut the fuck up?"

The ghosts, seemingly unaffected by Saren's cry, continued to drag the turian off towards the square. Something dark and wreathed with shadow appeared from nowhere next to Jorge, shiny teeth and red eyes proudly on display.

"I am the one hiding under your bed, teeth ground sharp and eyes glowing red!"

A hideous thing slithered out of the darkness behind Hahli, wrapping serpentine digits around her wrists as he leaned in to sing in a deep, baritone voice, "I am the one hiding under your stairs, fingers like snakes and spiders in my hair!"

Both of these monsters began to escort the Spartan and the Toa to the town square.

Further away, a quartet of bats surrounded a struggling Ravage and began to sing in a falsetto.

"In this town, we call home, everybody hail to the Pumpkin Song!"

"You know what, Travis? I am sorely tempted to say no. I really am, but, as irritating as they are, these are still innocent civilians. I will tear out your spine and beat you to death with it if you lay a finger on them."

Then the Shadow appeared. Jorge jumped. "What the?!" And then he was led to the town square, despite his protests.

Travis raised an eyebrow as he watched the two get dragged off.

"Innocent's kinda a subjective term, don't ya think?"

"Any non-combatant that hasn't committed any major crimes is an innocent. Understand?"
