A Game of Gods: A Multiversal Challenge

Ravage continued to run along the rooftops, having silenced Juliet by stuffing the tip of his tail into her mouth as a makeshift gag. Activating his transceiver, the jaguar spoke softly.

"This is Ravage; I have acquired the girl, and I am inbound for your position. There is a problem, however; that fool Arterius is chasing me for some nebulous reason, as is the Asian. Be ready to grab the girl and beat it."

"Possibly. Agh, this probably wasn't such a good idea." Then the Decepticon reported in.

"Dammit," Jorge cursed. "Don't worry, we're close to Freeman's position." The Spartan began to run. "Come on, we've gotta move!"

"Let's go!" exclaimed Hahli, using her Kanohi mask to subtly boost her speed and strength.

-Saren fires two shots, both of which land directly parallel to Ravage-

"No, but I do have a sense of restraint, odd as that may seem."

Ravage continued to lope towards the pub, shifting his tail—and thus Juliet—to one side as he did so. Its path clear, the end of his rocket began to glow and power up, and the jaguar angled himself so that its nozzle was pointing straight at Saren.

"I grow weary of thine interference in the affairs of Verona, Messenger! Desist, or thou shalt taste mine wroth like no other!!!"

The affairs of Verona are the affairs of Heav'n, Black Beast. Thine wroth is naught before Mine own!

-Saren's body is wrapped in miasma, before he is launched at breakneck speed toward Ravage-

Narumi on the other hand, thinking that Ravage will fire a laser, runs to an alleyway and waits for the coast to be clear.

Hahli took cover in an alleyway, preparing her Water powers in case things turned ugly.

The jaguar suddenly came to a halt, bracing himself as the rocket's exhaust nozzle grows brighter and hotter; Juliet began to fan herself rapidly in an attempt to avoid passing out from the heat.

"Thou shalt regret thine empty boasts, angel! Now you deal with me, O Prince, and all the powers of HELL!!!"

And with those words, a thin, glowing bronze line of scathing heat and plasma erupted from the rocket, streaking out towards the onrushing turian SPECTRE at a respectable fraction of the speed of light. The daughter of Lord Capulet cried out in shock and terror as this lance of hellfire speared towards the purported angel's metal arm, uncertain whether this development bade well or ill for herself and Romeo.

Jorge took cover directly across from Hahli, drawing his M247H. "Things are definitely getting quite heated over there. You ready?" He asked the Toa.

While in the alleyway, he noticed a blue figure (Hahli) in front of him. The figure looked more female and less monstrous than he had encountered. "How come there is a Dopant everywhere I go?" Narumi said.

He also noticed an armored figure (Jorge). He regarded him the same.

The Toa nodded in affirmation. Like what had happened aboard the Tantive IV, the humidity in the air suddenly increased, particularily around Hahil.

-Saren's eyes glow overbright; the sword in the Geth hand is pointed towards the ray, encased in biotic charge, brighter, brighter...-

THOU SHALT MEWL BEFORE ME, DAEMON!

-The sword hits the beam at relativistic speeds... And all goes white, a shockwave heading in all directions-

Hahli was hurled backwards by the blast, her mask skittering off her face and landing in a corner. Many of the buildings around the area collapsed; anyone who survived flew into a panic.

Jorge yelled as he was thrown back from the shockwave, dropping his machine gun as he flew. The Spartan hit the ground and rolled several times before finally coming to a stop. "Urgh...what the hell...?!" He looked up to see Hahli sprawled out on the ground.

"Hahli!" Jorge shouted, hastily pushing himself up onto his feet. He rushed over to the Toa's side and rolled her onto her back...

Narumi was knocked unconscious by the falling debris of the buildings.

Ravage staggered under the force of the explosion, nearly being knocked off his feet by the shockwave even though he had braced himself.

Occupied as he was with remaining upright, however, his tail's grip slackened, and Juliet went flying with a scream that was quickly silenced; several citizens gasped as the heir to the Capulet line simply appeared from thin air before sailing across the square to disappear in a pile of rubble.

Ravage shook himself, growling in anger as he ran a self-diagnostic to assess the damage. Primarily cosmetic for the most part, though much of his organic coating was charred and dead, and one of his hip actuators had been slagged from the intense recoil; clearly the jaguar would have to be certain to dig in more deeply if he wanted to avoid injury when venting his exhaust like that.

"Now, where did that squealing organic disappear to?"

Ravage slowly padded towards the direction he believed Juliet to have taken, wincing every so often as his damaged actuator grated against the various servoes and spars within the leg. Oh, yes, I'll need access to a CR chamber sooner or later...

Hahli moaned as she sat up. Then she felt her gray, angular face.

"My mask! Where's my mask?" she cried, getting to her feet and searching frantically for it.

Heeehh-KAOFF- Looking for thissss???

-Saren limps through the smoke, the entire synthetic half of his body crackling and smoking, blackened; in his organic, charred hand is Hahli's mask-

"Thank you," said Hahli, and reached over to take the mask.

Jorge's mouth fell open as he saw Hahli's true face.

So that's what she looks like...

Then the Toa jumped to her feet and began to panic. "What? Hahli, calm yourself," The Spartan said, but she didn't. The Toa wouldn't relax until she found her mask. Jorge began to look around, searching for her mask. Thankfully, Saren found it not too far from where they had stopped...wait. Saren had found it.

Oh great.

"Yes...thank you," Jorge said, though his tone made it clear that he did not trust the turian. If he tried anything, the Spartan would take action immediately.

-Saren wheezes mechanically, then extends the mask into Hahli's hand-

You're... welcome. Fiiiind-zzt- the Capulet girl... I don't want to... find outttt whathappens with failure.

"We'll do our best," said Hahli tersely as she fitted the Kanohi back over her face. It seemed an invisible surge of power coursed through her body as she did; she stood straighter, her armor seemed more vibrant, and she spoke with more determination and purpose.

Jorge was unnerved by Saren's speech. He sounded like a damaged AI. The turian was definitely part machine.

In any case, Hahli was back in prime condition. The Spartan pat the Toa on the back.

"Thought you were losing your mind there for a second. That mask must mean a lot to you. Now, let's go."

-Saren tries to follow, but his left leg gives out under him, and he crashes painfully down into the broken pavement-
