Wait, so he beat himself up and stole his coffee... and then went back to do the same?

Well, that's what it looks like.

So, where did he go to after that? Did he walk out of the men's room a few moments later?

Why should he walk out of anywhere? As seen, he just de- and re- materialises in a green vortex.

What's most confusing is why did he do it? There isn't any starting moment outside the loop.

He's keeping himself on his toes. Says as much before he times out.

And I'm wondering becuse he's not there after drinking the coffee and vanishing.

...I guess he just timed it so that he reappeared after warping out to start the loop.

Yeah, that's my guess too.

He was doing it to show off. Remember that the title of the first comic in the loop was 'we all peacock in our own way'.

He's able to beat up himself in a straight fight. That makes him infinitely tough.

But he had surprise the first time!

He also had known how he will try to defend himself and how to counter.

He won when he didn't have surprise or foreknowledge.

No, he didn't. His past self got beaten and his coffee stolen. The future self had surprise and foreknowledge (but also some sustained hits) and got the coffee.

Oh right.

so the only reason he was able to beat himself is because he had surprise.
