- We have a name for #4, its called vengeance. Problem with vengeance: if you dedicate your life to it, you never get anything else done. And once you complete it, what then?
- Uh, you dedicate your life hunting down that guy who overtook you once...
Guy 2: Wait what? what the f**k are you saying that for five years you have trying to hunt me down?
Guy 1: Yes, now prepare to die.
(Guy 1 unsheathes his sword)
Guy 2: Whoa... whoa... now wait just a minute, I was buying that muffin to give to my daughter was broke her leg in a car accident.
Guy 1: Yeah I know, shes next...
Man, sounds like something straight out of Kill Bill.

I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.Kratos is such a shithead. I cheered the end of GOW 3 because the fuck finally stayed dead. Yes, I disregard the stinger.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I feel like this is one that most people don't understand. Especially when people jump down their throat when they make a racist/sexist/homophobic comment.
I have a love-hate thing with Kratos. He is a kind of an asshole with few likable traits, but he does have his sympathetic moments as the series goes on.
Indeed. I play God Of War games for the trainwreck. Kratos is a raging, self-destructive ball of violence, and I find myself dragged in to watch his continued descent into madness and depravity.
I really liked 3's ending. It felt like a true, fitting end for the character, and I would not mind at all if the franchise ended there - even though I'm sure it won't. Kratos finally has the epiphany that opens his eyes and allows him to see the true evil responsible for everything bad that has ever happened to him in his entire life, the true target most deserving of vengeance: Kratos himself. After years of being the monster and raging against everyone and everything, Kratos puts an end to it, allowing the world to heal from the consequences of his actions.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.My friend thinks Kratos deserves less blame than he gets, since he's never actually told much, if anything, about what's going on and why he's doing things. But he rarely asks. He makes no effort to understand what's happening.
About the only disaster he causes that isn't entirely his fault is the fall of Atlantis since the Titan that did the physical act was really, really dumb about escaping. He still holds the blame for allowing it to happen though.
Not Three Laws compliant.Considering he spent the entirety of III killing literally everything that crossed his path with zero regard for their innocence or the consequences, I'd say he's pretty damn blameable. Admittedly, I only ever played III, it left me with such a bad taste in my mouth (and not just about the plot) that I never tried any other game in the series.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.The first game and the PSP games all try to give him the stature of a Greek tragic hero, where they aren't likable, but they had opportunity after opportunity to redeem themselves, but they failed due to their enormous fatal flaw. Whether or not they succeed is debatable, but II and III fail miserably at that goal.
Asura's Wrath is way better at the Kratos type of character, since Asura is actually trying to do good, and succeeds in protecting people a surprisingly large amount of the time.

Not Three Laws compliant.Well, to be fair, parts II and III are the endgame point of Kratos' story, where rage and vengeance are all that are left of him, and the end of part III has him realize that and destroy himself so that he cannot destroy what's left of the world.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThat's mainly what he does in the others too.
Kratos is a brutal monster, and I'm pretty certain that's deliberate. You're not supposed to like Kratos. Nearly everything that happens to him or because of him is a consequence of his own bad choices and mindlessly aggressive behavior. His Fatal Flaw is that he's an utter bastard who blames everyone else for his own terrible decisions and is addicted to rage.
I've never felt that the designers meant for Kratos to be likable, from the gruesome kills to his growling, screaming speech mannerisms, to the fact that every single game in the franchise forces you to murder an innocent person in cold blood as they beg and scream and cry for mercy in order to proceed. Kratos is the villain of his own story, and I believe that is well reflected in the gameplay.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I think the game is meant to be Evil vs. Evil, Kratos is just the "hero" because he's the anti-villain that's generally fighting worse monsters.

It doesn't take much to be more heroic than the Olympians.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatI didn't say it did, but that's the crux of it.
The only things keeping him from being a Complete Monster are that he's fighting worse monsters, and still loves his family.

I've only played partway through the first game. I just couldn't bear to continue after that game's "murder an innocent person in cold blood as they beg and scream and cry for mercy in order to proceed" moment. Getting to "Finish Him!" is one thing, but murdering someone in cold blood is a whole other level.
The Living Guildpact rules that coffee is an acceptable substitution for rest as specified in subsection … whatever.for me the issues of kratos is that he really is the son of zeus, not matter who much he wants to fight his father
but also, i think kratos is issue in the typical way many videogames chararter are: brutal and sadistic who are "good" because it torture worse people with token moments to show he cared for others
