I'm assuming that Yokoya's true motivation for pulling Nao in is to intentionally crash and burn his team so it'll drag her down. Though clearly she'll try to prevent that...which does make it strange that he decided to take only Nao and not Akiyama. Even if he's confident he can outsmart Nao and less so with Akiyama, everyone already knows that when it comes to gambit pileups Nao takes her cues from Akiyama.

New chapter was released. And now I remembered why following this weekly is such a pain.

The way Yokoya found out about the Liar Game is interesting, but I'm not sure if I like it. It's kinda... underwhelming? And too much of a fortunate coincidence for Yokoya. On the other hand, this opens up some new possibilities when explaining who is behind the LGT and why, so it can still be good for the series. Well, of course, this can still be fake, but the masked guys reacted to it, so it seems unlikely

Eh, I'm not gonna lie: I feel like Liar Game has jumped the shark.

Liar Game is weekly? I thought it was monthly.

The waiting between chapters hurts.

[up][up][up]I agree. The set-up seems rather contrived, and why the LGT office would base their entire operation on a single novel is beyond me. But I guess I'll just wait for the game to actually start and hope they have a decent explanation for it.

Perhaps the organisers of the LGT are the survivors/previous organisers of that prisoner death game.

This doesn't explain how Yokoya knew what happens to the Liar Game losers- and there's also the fact that the games can't be exactly the same in that novel, since the stakes are different. Someone like Yokoya could easily correct for some the resultant of the differences in advance, but the details of exactly how the financial aspect is implemented should still be able to catch him off guard.

It was an expected reveal, but as others have pointed out, not very satisfying.

New chapter.

So the new girl doesn't seem to be a mole, but she is screwing things up. It's moments like these I miss bandanna guy. He stayed in the game despite having the chance to leave, but he did it to help others. This chick is screwing others over.

I can't help but feel bad for Nao. It's one thing to be tricked, another entirely to shoot yourself in the foot.

Nao's missing the fact that the three players who drop out don't necessarily have to be teamless...they could just form an incomplete team of 3 and drop out that way (in fact, that might even be a more practical option than trying to remain teamless). Akiyama certainly won't miss that fact, but it's unclear whether he even really supports that idea in the first place - his style is usually to go for a bigger plan.

Latest chapter up. So Yokoya discovers a hole in his own plot, and rather than thinking of a countermeasure he resorts to denial? Frankly, I'm rather disappointed.

This chapter just made me notice that it seems there could be more than 3 people being eliminated at this stage already - if, for instance, the 15 remaining people somehow ended up forming 5 groups of 3 through bidding, then none of them would be in a sufficiently sized team and there would no longer be valid bidding options. I'm not entirely sure the given rules really cover what will happen in that case, but presumably they would all be eliminated. Other combinations such as 4-3-3-3-2 could also result in more than 3 eliminations.

I don't know what this plan of Akiyama's is supposed to be, but I note that if he bids on and wins the next person, suddenly things are gonna get real messy - there'll then be groups of size 3-3-3-3-2 and 1 teamless person, which could be pretty wacky.

These cliffhangers are getting more clunky.

Sure is convenient that there's a remote that lets Yoyoka catch exposition.

Regarding Yokoya's mistake, and his subsequent reaction, there's nothing he can do a this point. He's already out of the auction room, so his only choice is to hope that Akiyama doesn't notice.

It seems obvious that Akiyama is going to buy the remaining two (or just one if one of the teams buy the second to complete their team), forcing a stalemate which, presumably, the Liar Game Office won't like since they want to pit teams against each other. But Yokoya said it was "beyond his power", implying there's some more careful maneuvering involved and a more complex plan in motion.

Bit odd they have the cameras in the room. Seems like an unfair advantage.

[up][up]Well, here's the thing: Yokoya knows what his mistake will cost him if Akiyama carries out his plan (which he almost definitely will), so even if he's currently unable to interfere with the auction, he could try to think up of a counter-plan to minimize his losses — especially since he probably knows the exact details of the game they are going to play.

New chapter. So Akiyama is provoking the other players into bidding. I'd wonder why, but I'm pretty tired right now. The first half was very fillery, which is disappointing.

Liar Game is based on a novel? That sounds dumb. I got a lot of reading up to do.

I'm just glad to see she was ultimately trustworthy.

And huh. I'm legit surprised Fukunaga wasn't bullshitting. Well done.
