Not sure this has legs. The old guard were an ensemble, but this is a random conglomeration of just plain weird people. Kuchiki needs to tone down the jerkass act.
Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.Hmmmmnnnnnot sure, at all. It's been way to long since I've read the original series, so I can't really feel a connection to the characters (even though I did instantly recognize Madarame). Maybe I should reread a bit before judging? But a restart should be able to stand on it's own legs, especially after four years.
This chapter has not earned the Kayeka seal of approval.
To be honest, most clubs I've seen were more like this rather than the generally functional group that we've seen in the previous season ^^, Those guys had plans to realize within the group, and were able to look back on their time as a valuable experience. But would these guys be able to do the same? At the moment it seems that a lot of them are hanging out there out of boredom without really knowing what they are supposed to be doing. Will they just eventually drift apart, or be able to become a real team? Can the writers pull of a subject like this realistically? It'd make me really happy if they did.
The self-ads in this chapters were kind of annoying ^^; I wish manga could avoid these annoying "the best selling series! after four years!" etc. parts, een though I know that they're not at all uncommon.
Overall I liked it. I do feel it is a bit weaker than the start up of the first series, but hopefully it will improve.
I am surprised it is already out, I thought we would not see it until next year.
Am I the only one who think Ogiue looks like she could be Soi Fon's sister?
Looks like it's becoming more of a dysfunctional comedy.
I'm actually still relatively interested, myself.
It's just a bonus chapter isn't it?
Or has someone confirmed it's going to continue and be serialized?
Anywho someone was talking about the novel earlier. Is it any good? I don't know if making genshiken less realistic is really a good thing.
The novel was okay. The translation was rather stilted, but that is not the fault of the original author obviously. I liked it overall, but I do not consider it a part of the Genshiken "Canon".
I think Genshiken is going to be serialized for a while longer. So, I guess there will be another chapter later this month.

Interesting. Yamaji as our viewpoint character? It works.
I think this is the first chapter of the continuation that has the Genshiken feel. :-)

Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.^ Considering it's the second one, that's a good sign. The original series took a while to really come together.
Yeah, that was a fun chapter. It was a really good idea to devote most of it to the three newbies and establish their personalities properly.
And Oguie forgetting about Kuchiki was priceless.

I have always liked the way Shimoku draws faces. They are very expressive.
Bad translation or really confusing plot?
Just an awkward translation really.
Although I know some people probably think the plot does not fit into the Genshiken 'verse either.
You do mean the novel, right?
Oh, and I hope Chapter 59 gets translated soon. Vinland Saga is in the same magazine as Genshiken, and it has been up since December 27th, so I hope the new Genshiken chapter is going to be up soon,

no I meant the manga scans, they seem awkward and I couldn't understand what was going on some times.
Oh...I have no trouble figuring out what is going on.
Is Shimoku Kio a big fan of Bakemonogatari, or what? He's referenced it 3 times in as many chapters. (I'm not saying this is a bad thing though. In fact, I think it's awesome. ^^)
Referencing current anime & manga are kind of what otaku do.
Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.Even if he's not a big fan himself, it only makes sense for the characters to be. It's one of the more memorable things to come out in recent years.
I've never seen him reference a series so frequently before though (other than Kujibiki Unbalance, and that doesn't count since he created it), so it just makes me wonder if he particularly likes it.

There's almost certainly more Gundam references throughout the series.
Ah, okay. I didn't know that except in a "general" sort of way rather than being able to spot any specific references; because I don't follow Gundam. A pity.

Finally.
Ahh man, I loved this chapter.
Madarame X Hato?!
Madarame seems to be getting more handsome with each chapter that passes.

First chapter out. Not sure what to think about it yet. I still can't really imagine it as a series.
