Just a reminder that steel balls don't hurt Stands by themselves; the Spin does.

Also Ballbreaker is not Gyro's Stand, but the Spin's.

When I say bareknuckle slugfest, I mean stuff like the end of Metal Gear Solid 4 or Lagann Hen. No powers, no fancy moves, just a lot of punching from progressively more exhausted opponents, growing uglier and less dignified with each blow.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

"No powers, no fancy moves" is basically the opposite of how Jojo fights work, is the thing.

Good point. Very good point. When the hero gets to land the beatfown, it's a reward for cleverness, courage, and perseverance, but by that point he's already won.

Except when Jotaro just powers through shit. The guy will break your teeth.

From the inside.

Ora!

Jolyne and westwood was arguably bare knuckle fighting for the most part and it was boring as hell.

I hate that fight.

Lack of interesting stakes and meaningfulness of conflict ? Bad pacing ?

There's a question:

What would you say is the 'worst fight in the Jojo franchise and why?

Of the first four parts that I've seen... it's damn hard to pick because I've loved every fight.

If Yo-Yo Ma counts as a fight, that's the one for me.

Kira in the bathroom. Well, I don't know if that counts as a fight. But it was horrifying in a way I appreciated but really didn't enjoy.

This guy, wearing your dad's face, seducing your mom, and pretending to be affectionate, defiling a fundamental act of parental bondage, while you're desperately trying to hide the evidence you have of him, while stark naked.

You show bravery and resourcefulness and perseverance. He ends up killing you anyway.

That was the scariest scene in the whole story, ever.

... Hmm.

Yeah, I'm also gonna have to go with Yo Yo Ma. That's the only one that illicits negative feelings from me stronger than 'meh, that was lame' or 'that didn't make any sense'.

It's an automatic stand and also invincible, so they couldn't get rid of it. The idea was to try and cover your bases while the stand figures out increasingly ingenious ways to get at you. But yeah, it was not a good fight. Probably my least favorite too.

Dragon's Dream was complete garbage. Feng Shui has sucked in every anime I've seen it used(guess what is widely agreed to be the worst episode of Cowboy Bebop involves?) and not even Jojo could make it awesome. Crappy stand, crappy fight. The fact Westwood and Yo-yo ma were around the same time means you got like a triple play of crappy stand fights. Honestly why Part 6 is among my least favorite parts, it really drags around the middle. It's gets better once Dio's kids show up, although...well you know, we got some of Araki's worst writing. The rods were pretty dumb but Araki tried really hard to make them believable within the context of the story, he tried. But Heavy Weather? I wanted to ORA Araki's face reading that nonsense. Easily the stupidest thing in Jojo yet. It's not even bizarre, it's just moronic.

Going by part starting with 3 since that's when stands happened:

  • SC: in the manga it was Dark Blue Moon. In the anime(which made DBM kind of cool actually) it's easily Judgement. Probably the only episode I skip on rewatch. I did like Advol's epic comeback though. YES I AM!
  • Superfly. It was still quite boring in the anime. Cinderella too but that's not really a fight so it doesn't count. Also I'm going to get flack for this but I didn't like Pearl Jam. Just felt like filler and an excuse for Araki to wank about Italian Food. Like I don't blame him, Italian Food rocks but nothing really came out of it.
  • AV: Most of these were pretty good?I actually never read this part entirely <_< kraftwerk? Little Feet? Idk TBH.
  • SO: Dragon's Dream,Yo-yo ma and Planet Waves/Survivor easily take it. I didn't like Jumpin Jack Flash either.
  • SBR: ahhhh this one is tough. D-I-S-C-O maybe for being so laughably weak? Actually I remember not liking Civil War all that much.
  • JJ: the stupid tree road. I still don't get it really.

I think the finish for Rohan's fight with the betting kid was pretty weak.

I guess Superfly and Boy II Man were the worst for me. Actually, anything that involved Yoshihiro Kira was damn boring by deafult (with the exception of Enigma and Highway Star, perhaps).

Extortion Road was pretty confusing as well, but it paid off in the end, so I have mixed feelings with that.

The Lock is the worst fight for me. Koichi doesn't really even earn the victory. The guy just gives up because... Koichi's mother believes him?

It just didn't feel all that convincing for a guy who was all "Boy, I sure am looking forward to taking advantage of your sister" five minutes earlier.

The lock only enhances guilt, Koichi echoing encouraging words became louder than the guilt.

As for worst stand in Part 4, that's a tough one, I'd have to say the mannequin one.

[up]Surface.

as far as my least favorite Stand fight, i'd also have to go with Dragon's Dream, because for most of the fight i had no idea what was going on.

Apparently Rohan received a gucci bag from a relative that had a Stand of its own.

I think only living things can have Stands, given that they require spiritual energy. There's a tree in Part 7 that has a Stand, for instance.

That being said, Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe does have some other supernatural things in the universe. I don't think the gucci bag had a Stand, but it did have some kind of ability where any money put in would disappear but cause you to gain something of equivalent value.

a Stand that's bound to a physical object can remain bound to it after its user dies, such as Anubis from Part 3.
