Nice to finally see Summer Glau however i still felt like she was underused a bit. I mean compared to Adam Baldwin's guest appearances (although to be fair, i don;t think Gina Torres got much screen time when she appeared).
The kiss between Summer and Oks was kinda funny, given that Summer said a few years ago she never wanted to do any "girl on girl"-type scene.
If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them. So, apparently Stana Katic and Tamala Jones won't be coming back for the next season.
Wonder how they're going to work through that. I mean, I don't actually mind the thought of a season of just Rick, Hayley, and Alexis solving crimes together, but I'd hate for Kate to be permanently gone. Lainey's cool, but she could leave more readily than Kate could without resorting to weirdness to do it.
Jon Huertas apparently wasn't told this, and found out online. https://twitter.com/Jon_Huertas/status/722131157144371200
Triple x K's crazy face-stealing girlfriend will come back (somehow) and this time succeed in stealing Kate's face, creating a clever(?) excuse to replace Stana Katic with a new actress.
:P

I couldn't conceive a dream so wet; your bongos make me congo. Not likely. She was killed. Period. End of story. Not letting her come back. We saw the body.
We ain't replacing Katic. I like the thought of a full season of the Castles solving crimes, I just don't want them to kill off Kate or anything. I wonder if this'll be like Mike Shanks in season 6 of SG-1. He went away from the main cast, but guest starred in a few episodes and then came back at the beginning of the next season.
I'm kinda puzzled why they're still planning a season 9 if one half of the thing that keeps it going is no longer part of the show. The Castle/Beckett romance is the show's lifeblood, like it or not. It won't be any near as entertaining without those two bantering.
"If I reach for the stars, you can't hold me back"Exactly. Like, that's the entire premise of the show. Castle and Beckett's relationship. That's the running string from episode to episode.
Take that out and it's just another cop drama.
Do we know what kind of season nine we're getting? I mean, White Collar had a sixth season that was literally just a six episode mission to give Neal a decent ending on his own terms. If we don't currently have word on how many episodes we'll get, they might be going down that road.
I think they might be doing what I suspect the USA Network is doing for Suits - this next season is either the end or a preparation for it. Losing half of what made the show such a success and expecting people to go on liking the show for much longer after that isn't something even Castle's execs are stupid enough to do.
Why exactly are those two leaving? I mean, I could understand Katic bailing for more alone time with her new husband, but is she actually doing that or is she being forced out by ABC? I haven't kept up with Jones, so I don't know if she's got something big going on too.
ABC want Katic out because Fillion and her are having hissy fits with each other, and since Fillion's character is the star, she's out. The other lassie's on her way out because she's pals with Katic in real life as well as in the show, and that's cost her her job. Which sucks, but it's an object lesson in show business - make the right friends at the right time and you are usually okay, but always be aware times change.
Oh for God's sake. They're both the stars and the show's gonna die from this. Why couldn't the damn studio just get them counselling?
ETA: Nevermind, apparently the fighting has been going on for years and maybe this is for the best. No clue where they'll go from here, but I'll still watch and give it a chance.

Probably easier to appease Fillion than pay the cash for more couples counselling. I'm not sure but I think that ABC DID already do something like that for Katic and Fillion but it wasn't successful. I'm not positive where I read that so don't ask.
Just end the fucking show then. A show with just Castle would be terrible.
It's never been just Castle. And I actually don't have a problem with the episodes where it's mainly him, Alexis, and Hayley. After reading up on it, it sounds like after this season the show's taking a drastically different turn and the few folks who've been tapped for it so far think we'll still like it. I'm skeptical but willing to see. Pretty sure they're going to end this season with Kate dying because that's what the article I read directly said was going to happen. I think that's the big thing that's going to murder the show, so I'm hoping that was a misdirect. They could just pull a truncated version of what Burn Notice did to Fiona and throw her in prison to give Katic and Fillion a season to cool their fucking heads instead.
ETA: Also, since Castle's not a cop, and his only real reason for staying with the cops is Kate, the Rick and Alexis Power Hour could very well not be a cop show. Maybe a Private Eye show, but considering the high level baddie they're up against, this series could switch into more of a secret agent vibe.

I'd heard about the fighting rumours, but I thought Katic was out for budget reasons? At least that's the official line.
"If I reach for the stars, you can't hold me back"It's the official line but the few articles I found on it cited the fights as the real reason, with budget being a cover-up because the stars are professionals and won't admit to a feud. Oh, and apparently ABC DID do the counselling stuff and it simply didn't work.
So now we're losing Kate and Lanie. Possibly Ryan and Espo if they're not called back. Somehow I think this is going to be a hard reset on the series. And no matter how it goes, this is the nail in the coffin of me ever watching the old stuff anymore. As it is, once the relationship really got rolling, I couldn't stand to watch the pre-relationship stuff anymore because I couldn't enjoy the 180 of Kate's attitude toward him from the warmth we got later to the harassed big sister one she had before. So if this change manages to be good, I'm going to be thinking "Kate who?" and if it's bad, I'm just ditching the show. I couldn't stand rewatching How I Met Your Mother after its finale, and this would be falling along similar lines.
Next week's the finale. This week's was vaguely amusing but . . . there's only two ways this show continues to work. Either Alexis (or Hayley) steps up and does the Sculley to Castle's Mulder, or the paranormal stuff starts being real.
On the real life front, I dug deeper into the feuding and read that Fillion's a bully off the set who abuses others in the studio.
I'd say go for this option... but if Beckett leaves they wouldn't be able to do the plot I'd most want to see with that- the time traveler returns and everyone begins fitting in to the future he previously told them about, mainly Beckett starting to look into politics (so she can stop people like corrupt senator guy/after suffering an injury that'll keep her from working as a cop again/after saving the city from something crazy so everyone would be rooting for her to become mayor). And then the veeery last line of the series is Beckett telling Castle... "I'm pregnant".
I couldn't conceive a dream so wet; your bongos make me congo. That doesn't really jive with his rapport with the Firefly cast and Whedon...
I'd heard it was more that Katic was used to being the centre of attention (former model and all) and Fillion was having none of it.
I'm taking this feud gossip with a grain of salt until either Katic or Filllion actually admits to it. I mean I looked it up, the first sources I pulled on the Fillion bully bit were the Daily Mail and Perez Hilton...also, if it was that bad, Katic was one hell of a trooper to last through 8 years of it. I feel if there's ANY truth to these rumours, it'd be in the mutual squabbling.
Also this all quite awkward since Katic and Fillion have one of the stronger Actor Shipping fandoms, or at least they did last time I checked (which was a while back so...)

"If I reach for the stars, you can't hold me back""Eight years of bullying? But I get extremely well paid? I can deal. Fuck you, give me MONEY!"
There - Katic's thought processes explained.
This sounds like the seedier parts of the fandom and fan press go crazy with the unproven theories. I doubt unless someone gives a clear interview, we'll ever get to the bottom of it.
Rumors be rumors.
"You can reply to this Message!"
Why the hell do they keep pushing back the winter premiere? This doesn't seem to bode well for the health of the series.
