What's the verdict on that "It's a wonderful life" episode where Castle picks up the artifact and goes to a world where he never met Beckett? Was it real or did he hit his head and pass out? I know the artifact's supposed to do exactly what happened in the episode, but what does everyone think?
If I remember correctly, they did the thing where he saw stuff in the dream he couldn't have known which turned out to be true in the real world... which would imply it was real, like with the time travel episode. So I'd lean towards... maybe.
I am a fan of the show and it has been a once-a-season tradition that they have a weird episode. The artifact episode is like the old "time travel" episode from a couple seasons ago.
Well, the artifact episode nicely explains away any differences between our world and theirs by making the Multiverse a thing for them. It means their universe is implicitly not meant to be ours.
New season starts tomorrow night. I just realized, the season finale was the first time Rick himself has actually killed someone on the show. I hope they're going to work with that in the coming season. I know he's seen people die, but there's a big difference between seeing someone else pull the trigger and doing it yourself, and Rick has a history of things getting to him.

Right, got to binge up on the remaining half of the last season
"You can reply to this Message!"Looks like Gates is out. Dang. Just when she was growing on me.
New girl's got a sweet accent.
I was curious what happened to Castle's PI business. It seemed everyone forgot about it last season after Castle was allowed to work with Kate again. Looks like Alexis has been managing it this whole time under Castle's nose.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationIt's a little bit of a rehash, but forgivable because it's not a copy. Both of them wind up disappearing on the day of an important life-changing event. But that's the only rehash, really.
I liked the first episode, set up the season nicely and Alexis was fantastic. That said, i had only one problem with it. Spiders. Why the fuck did it have to be spiders?

I am sure Castle was thinking the same thing.
This is good writing but fuck if it ain't painful to watch.
ETA: How the Hell does an "untrained" computer guy who's getting tackled by Castle manage to sink an instant killshot on another guy during a stressful situation? I don't buy Singh being just an innocent analyst. He's a part of the bad side somehow.

You are right about watching it being painful. The silliness of the whole opening action scene where they write themselves into a corner so bad they have to have the villains repeatedly screw up and then top it with Just in Time from a character we've never seen. Then Enhance Button, twice, to epic levels. Finally that forced ending to let them retun to status quo for now... Bonus points for Castle's step mom being involved, because of course she would. Not just getting involved for Castle either, just happening to be running down the same lead.
Man I keep wishing those writing this would figure out that their strength aren't myth arcs. They do good when they do episodic stuff. Lets hope we'll get those at least for a while from here on.

The part that's forced is her Trying to leave for his sake. She won't be able to do it on her own. She couldn't take out Brakken without his help, and she wants to handle this?
Hoping we see Toks (Haley) again next episode.
I like that Alexis is becoming more involved in the cases.
Okay, this whole Castle/Beckett crutch thing feels very forced and unnecessary. If it leads to a divorce, this season officially sucks.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationHaven't seen the latest yet so I don't know what that crutch thing is unless you're referring to how it seems to take both of them to solve cases.
That isn't necessarily forced in the least. If the characters are their actors' real ages, then Castle is a good seven years older than Beckett. Since the event that got him into writing happened when he was twelve, he's probably been writing the entire time Beckett's been on the police force. She might have been a fan of his the entire time, and used his stories as inspiration during the most difficult times in her job.
It could even explain how she behaved toward him in the beginning of the show. She's always had his books to comfort her and get her through the worst of it, and it makes her feel like he IS a crutch. So she acts cold to him as a way to distance herself from it and say "I CAN do this on my own." Unfortunately for that idea, while she is a very capable badass on her own, we never see her finish anything in this show without him backing her up because it's ultimately the Casket Power Hour.
The chemistry between the leads makes it work, as long as you don't dig too deeply into it. Now they're just . . . they're seemingly trying to undo the work they've done for literally the entire show, and it's not going to do them any favors.

That is what I was getting at. I dunno, I just don't like the whole "Beckett has to keep secrets from Castle to protect him" nonsense. Never really liked the trope. Granted, Beckett has a point that if Castle knew Beckett was still investigating people who helped murder her mother Castle would try to either A) Stop her (not a bad thing), or B ) Try to help out and get killed (not so good).
But, the way last night's episode ended, I got the impression that Castle was considering calling it quits with the marriage. I just hope it doesn't go that way.
I keep wondering how the character Haley is going to fit into this season. is she just going to be some mysterious cop that appears out of nowhere to help out? Or...... with Castle and Beckett's relationship staggering now, is something going to end up happening between Castle and Haley?

With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationStana got married a matter of months ago, so it's possible all of this is happening as a prelude to her not having much time on the show anymore. Early on she was talking about NOT being on it because she wants to spend time with her husband, who isn't in the business. I'm happy for her and all, but wouldn't it have been better if they had given her a season as the actual captain of the precinct without all this extra bs? I mean, Gates and her predecessor weren't on nearly as much as the detectives were, so it would still give her a way to slacken being on the show. And we could get Rick and Alexis teaming up to solve cases for a season instead, since Castle's mostly on police cases because of Kate.

It's frustrating when fans have better ideas than the actual writers on the show.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationI haven't quite caught the crutch thing. I've finally gotten to watch this, and it's not really feeling all that bad. It's sad, and terrible, that they're not on the happy path right now, but we'll have to wait and see how it goes.
This was the most mundanely odd episode I've seen yet. Though I'm glad it ended on a happier note than most of this season.
I hope "The Nose" returns in a future episode, or be a recurring character. She was kinda funny and played off the other characters pretty well.
Yay! Haley's back! I love how she just waltzes into the precent like she owns the place without any explanation. I wonder if the writers are working their way to something with this character.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationThe last two episodes were pretty cool. Of course, when even Slaughter tells Castle to keep at it you know they're pushing.
Uh-Oh.... Castle now knows Beckett is hiding stuff from him. Shit's about to go down.
With all the memes about women choosing a bear over a man, Hollywood might wanna get on an 'East of the Sun and West of the Moon' adaptationShit went down and now they're working together. And I somehow think Lucy and Vickram are working together too. Or at least both are working for Locksat.
Only a little over three weeks before season 8 starts! And I'm catching up on season 7 to remember where we're going to be starting. I forgot how fun this season was. Castle and Beckett make a wonderful couple.
