Igniter cells located in the back of the throat?
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!No igniter cells, but crushed up rocks with platinum as a catalyst?
...
What? Animal Planet did it...
Let's play a game about Pokémon...Where would they get this platinum?
I'm inclined to go with igniter cells, but I would like to find a more specific description of their operation first.
Plenty of possible organic chemicals, there.

^^ Harvesting it from ore in the ground, leading to myths of them hoarding treasure?
And my name is Monster Dragon
Closet DCLAU fan.↑How much of permanent / periodic supply would they need?

The only semi-realistic way that I could think of to have cells that can actually help light stuff on fire would be modified versions of RL electro-conductive cells (sets the aerosolized particles Char-whatever is hacking up on fire with a little spark)...
Let's play a game about Pokémon...^That's exactly what I was thinking. Several Pokemon (even non-electric types) are capable of electro-kenesis. It's not much of a stretch to assume that the Chars (or other Fire pokemon) have a modified version of, say, a Pikachu's electricity storing organs to produce a spark just strong enough to ignite a flame.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!Aha! The bombardier beetle! Would the heat from a hydroquinone + hydrogen peroxide reaction be enough to light the gas?
Or else maybe something sodium-related? Or I guess bioelectricity is possible.
What looks best?
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?Don't know, what's the minimum temp that hydrogen needs to burn and what's the minimum temp for methane to burn? Whatever process lets the Chars breath fire, it needs to produce some sort of spark or something that can reach such a temp...
Let's play a game about Pokémon...Charizard can learn Thunderpunch...
Uh... not again... As for temperatures and whatever, guys, don't sweat it out (more than needed). This is the Pokémon World, where 10-year old kids drop the equivalent of three floors to the rocky ground, and instantly walk away unscratched. Surely energy is stored and transferred with different, slightly more leenient constraints. Just make sure the temperature sounds reasonable.
Also, I'm temporarily calling Glameow. If I have to leave it later I'll let you know and any of you can contact me to get what I'll have worked out.
As for 5th Gen, i thought the tacit consensus was wait till at least the English release, other than that I'd guess prepare the starter entries in advance?
Fanfic Recs orwellianretcon'd: cutlocked for committee or for Google?I call Rankurusu!
Formerly known as Crow T. Robot.I'm thinking about doing the Zubat line.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!^^ We're not doing 5th-gen yet, so it's maybe a bit early to call?
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?Goddamn Zubats!
Also, I believe someone said that they'd be doing Smugleaf...

Formerly known as Crow T. Robot.I think its best if we hold off on anything from the 5th gen until the English release.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!Yeah, Zubat must be pretty explosive breeders. Any ideas for Crobat though? It isn't a wild Pokemon.
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!I guessing Crobat is recently discovered evolution that only triggers when it it has a deep bond with a trainer. Wild specimens were thought to extinct. Similar to how Yanmega and Tangrowth were thought to be extinct until trainers managed to evolve them (and live specimens were discovered).
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!I don't see why wild Golbat can't be happy enough to evolve...
Formerly known as Crow T. Robot.I don't think happiness is necessarily the end-all-be-all, but rather the prescense of the trainer.
Sorry, I can't hear you from my FLYING METAL BOX!Hmmm. How were happiness evolutions handled on here? Also some criminals have Crobats oddly. Should that be noted?
You got some dirt on you. Here's some more!Maybe it's due to hormonal triggers that very rarely occur outside of captivity?
EDIT: @ Tangent:
Are the newts sociable creatures by any stretch of the imagination? Also, what forms are most commonly recorded breeding outside of captivity?

Let's play a game about Pokémon...How about naturally-produced oxiders and accelerants? They'd be inert as long as they don't mix.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!
Nope!
