The Pokédex - Extended Fanon Edition

Hazards is kinda small... But now, how would I explain it? How do they stop a move from working? Do I need to explain how it works or should I just go with what it does?

Guess I didn't think things all the way through.

Hmm, did someone ever come up with an explanation for how Disable works?

I don't think so, but I might be wrong. If there is an explanation, I could base it off of that.

My guess would be creating some kind of temporary aversion or a powerful compulsion not to use it. Maybe fear-based but that's a little tenuous. Maybe it's just some kind of pattern-based thing that creates a literal mental block. It would be a lot easier to explain if Disable was psychic not normal...

Maybe it has something to do with injuring the Frillicent that has something to do with the nerve clusters they have? Or maybe it's Obscura at work here. I dunno.

Thing is, Cursed Body works on all moves, not just ones that make contact. How to explain that... tricky indeed. Here's a picture of it in action in the anime.◊ Maybe that'll inspire something?

Calamity Jane: The Frillish article is awesome, although the idea of Frillish and Jellicent as completely insane by our standards seems somewhat random.

Also, Disable and Cursed Body might just be paralysis of the part used to attack. the Frillish line are jellies after all.

Well, my justification for the insanity stands as this:

• No proper brain
• No proper sense of logic
• Sapient
• No proper sense of logic + Sapience = Insane.

I think its an obscura attack that creates some kind of paralysis in the anatomy used to perform the move.

Neural Paralysis maybe? They know how to do the move but they're temporarily incapable for firing the neurons required to used the move. Like temporarily forgetting how to walk. This could be done via Neuro-toxins, a very precise electrical shock, or psychic in nature. I'm banking on the latter because most things that know Disable are Psychics.

So they cause a very minor stroke?

Weird.

More like a cognitive block or an enforced recall error. As far as mental attacks go this doesn't seem that implausible.

Then what's up with the glowy black energy around Frillish when he used Cursed Body on Vine Whip?

The Obscura or whatever briefly becoming visible before the mental portion of the attack occurs?
