At the moment, we're not even sure if we're going to go with committees, much less which ones, but we'll definitely keep that request in mind.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.Mmk.
Heh, remember when you were trying to figure stuff out about the walls? That was one of the things I participated the most in. So Yeah.
Yeah, I think that between the work that you and I did with arks and the occasional patches I have written since then, the three of us came up with at least 2/3 of the rules for the Walls.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.RAAAAAH!
-*bursts from a grave*
Sorry for not being on recently....
Umm....
Yeah.
So, I'll do my best to be on, but I don't have much time during Christmas. I have very little time to visit the Florida branch of my family, so family members will be swarming me....
But, the fact that I have very little time means that I can be back in full force for the New Year. ^_^
So, now to discover things.
I haven't been here for a while.... ^_^;

-*whooooooosh* Nin nin! [1]◊Hikari, short version: we have a new forum, but we temporarily lost our old threads. Reading this thread should get you caught up as we as possible. If you have any additional questions, feel free to PM me.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.I am still here. Please give me a day to catch up both in reality and here.
I just got a PM from Hikari—he's in favor of committees if we decide to go in that direction. I was able to answer his other questions, so let's carry on the discussion about whether or not to introduce more organization.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.Yes, yes, a thousand times yes. The biggest obstacle to the advancement of the show's development is the chronic inability to reach consensus and make decisions.
So who's on these committees?

Ok, good. As long as that's settled.
And if we do go through with this reboot, I have a major overhaul planned for Kat's character.
♥♥II'GSJQGDvhhMKOmXunSrogZliLHGKVMhGVmNhBzGUPiXLYki'GRQhBITqQrrOIJKNWiXKO♥♥I've gone ahead and added committees to the crowner since there doesn't seem to be a lot of discussion about them.

I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.It looks like our current total is 6 for (probably 7, since I don't think Hikari came back just to vote on that one option but not give any other indication of his presence) and 0 against. While this is by no means a majority, it is enough support to examine the committee option in greater detail.
I think that the first thing we should do is choose a general committee. This committee would make the big decisions and delegate the discussion of various details to other committees. If the committee is too small, then too much power is held by too few people; if the committee is too large, it ceases to function efficiently, which is the entire point of adopting a committee system in the first place. Thus, I propose that this over-committee have 5 or 7 members, selected via consensus. It would probably also be good if the committee had a committee head to deal with the necessary bureaucratic functions such as enforcing the Rule of 48, updating the committee page, etc. The head would have no extra authority in the voting process, or anything like that.
Since I'm in an optimistic mood tonight, I'm even going to propose a team of 7: Pentadragon, arks, Bobby, Kara, SSOT, arimnaes, and me. Aside from picking Pentadragon as a given due to his role in the founding of the project and myself entirely to handle the bureaucratic details, I tried to pick a group of people who:
- Have demonstrated their commitment to the project and the focus necessary to stay on-topic
- Have not made any attempts to derail the project to match their own desires (ie they know how to share)...
- ...but still politely disagree from time to time on the details
Any additional opinions on committees, the over-committee, or the specific over-committee I'm proposing?

I really like the committee idea. This all looks good to me.
My Dream Journal. Updated daily!I like the look of everything Ironeye's said there. Go for it.
I voted. ^_^
Will people who are not on a given committee be able to ask the committee to discuss something? Say someone's not on the setting committee. If that person has something they really want to see in the setting, could they ask the setting committee to discuss it?
Perhaps they should have to give the suggestion in detail, so that only ideas with real backing behind them could get through.
Although having the people on the committees be the only ones talking about it would certainly be more efficient, it's more in the spirit of this project to have a system where people could give input to the committees, who would in turn decide whether to accept it, alter it, draw upon it, deny it altogether....
Any thoughts?
-*whooooooosh* Nin nin! [1]◊Which one is the character committee? Because if I reboot Kat, then I want to know who to talk to.
♥♥II'GSJQGDvhhMKOmXunSrogZliLHGKVMhGVmNhBzGUPiXLYki'GRQhBITqQrrOIJKNWiXKO♥♥@Hikari: Of course everyone else would be able to contribute! The official membership just matters for when an issue is considered "settled"—if the committee members have reached a consensus (or have voted), their choice becomes canon even if someone not on the committee disagrees. The goal, of course is efficiency—it's impractical to hold a vote every time two contributors disagree on something, so if we can cut it down to only 3 or 5 opinions with particular weight on a given topic...
@SJ: We have no committees yet, so I can't say.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.Speaking of characters, since Hikari's back and all, I've decided to replace Bobby-the-character with Cody, if that's OK, and cut Bobby from the series completely on the grounds that he's lame and redundant.
Incidentally, this would be in line with arks' suggestions, since it wouldn't have been realistic for Bobby to dislike characters who weren't intentionally antagonistic, since it would have been out-of-character. Cody's attitudes towards various other characters would potentially be much more complex.

Okay, well I want to be on the Setting (Walls) committee. As You Know, I'm a setting man. I'd also have liked to be on the Setting (World) committee except that would require knowledge of current events and foreign entertainment.
