Expect that ep. 4 isn't the end of the series.
Okay, where/when does this song show up?

Can K1 be considered The One Guy?

To the guy about to watch Higurashi: you will not know what the hell is going on. Also, don't get too attached to the batshit insanity or you'll be a bit underwhelmed in the second season. Also, do not watch seaosn 2 (kai) before season 1 under any circumstance, it's a murder mystery and seeing things out of order can spoil you HARD.
That advice would be equally applicable to me. My Higurashi is in the process of being acquired through Totally Legal Methods.
Play Again? Y/NBy the way, remember this is a murder mystery. Be a man and try to solve it before the characters.
Hmmm.
Depends on whose style the murder mystery was patterned after. Agatha Christie's murders are usually solved on a detail the author has neglected to tell us.
But I'm guessing it's not that, from what has been said.
Play Again? Y/NI didn't have much fun on solving the mystery, since one of the first things I knew about Higurashi is that Miyoko Tanashi is the Big Bad.
I did enjoy trying failing to figure out the killer in each individual question arc though, and sad to say, I was caught, hook line and sinker in both Onikakushi and Watanagashi.
Of course the most entertaining (and confusing) part about When They Cry as a whole right now is the whole Furude/Bernkastel piece of mindfuckery.

I thought that bit of it was only available in Sound Novel format. Unless there's an anime of it that I'm not aware of.
Play Again? Y/NGood advice.
Someone suggested that to me and I said, "No way."
It's a waste of the Mind Screw factor. Not that Bern isn't adding more of it.
Hey Mapi-chan, check out this pic◊ (courtesy of Smokie from the Nanoha thread).
It might amuse you.
Play Again? Y/NI've seen that picture already. I also have pictures of Rika wearing Nanoha's clothing and Teana wearing Rena's.
Another tip: watch it twice. Once you know who's the culprit and who's making shit up, it's like watching a completely different show.
As in the The Usual Suspects??!!! Do we have... Yes we have that page
Awesome. Even trough I have seen the show one and a half time, I still cant understand the kiss scene in the third episode.
Wait, kiss scene? I don't recall this, neither can I check because I don't have my copy of Higurashi on me.
I don't recall one either.
Also, I think I might be slightly scared of the sound of cicadas now.
Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.I've just seen the final episode of Rei. Overall, it was Crowning Moment Of Funny + Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming.
The mahjong part made me laugh the most, especially because Hanyuu made a terrible call, something her counterpart Mihoko wouldn't dream of doing.
They finally subbed it?
I don't use any actual subbing programs. I watch it on animefreak.tv, and use the subs there. They appear to vary from episode to episode. At least they're pretty good quality (although in episode 8, they didn't change color. I felt cheated. )
Do the later seasons (Kai and Rei) keep the Nightmare Fuel pumping?
Anyone who assigns themselves loads of character tropes is someone to be worried about.Nope, it gets reduced. Also, I was sure that there was an almost kiss and a Yamainu attack in Episode 4.
Okay, anyone have a picture or a screencap of Rika slamming her head into the knife?

So, I'm planning on watching Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni. What should I expect going in to it?
