Goldeneye

So a remake of the original just came out. Has anyone bought it? Is it better than comparable to the original?

On a completely related note, I just bought the original game a week ago because I never had it as a kid. Should I bother getting the new one too?

If you like the recent Call of Duty games, sure. Me? I may buy it eventually, if the Goldeneye Classic mode (no regenerative health) is available from the beginning, i'll buy it asap.

How do you mean "work decently"? Because seeing as how some editions of the game come packed with a Classic Controller Pro, I don't see why it wouldn't.

It seems different enough from the original to pick up, and if I had to pick a favorite FPS, my least-favorite genre, it probably would be Goldeneye thanks to all the fun we had with it back in the day (License to Kill + RCP90s = Completely pointless but fun as fuck). I just...don't have the budget for it. Maybe when it drops to $20 sometime next year.

Quick question....do you shoot anything interesting in this game? Like monster...dinosaur...undead...eldritch abominations...werewolves...vampires...or whatever besides just plain humans?

^^ What I mean is is it tight, responsive and accurate when using the Classic Controller, and does the reticule stay centered on screen?

I heard about this, its kinda surprising if you ask me. Seeing how Rare Ware isnt doing this. But they were planning to do a XBLA remake of it.

The gameplay is nearly identical to Modern Warfare, except slightly slower-paced.

Looks very nice for a Wii game, though.

It's not a bad game. And Rare would sue Eurocom/Activision if the game was too close to the N64 version.

I would do research into the topic before making a definitive answer, but most FPSs on the Wii allow you to adjust all of those things. I'm guessing you can turn up the stick sensitivity to your leisure. Again, won't be getting it for a while, so I don't know for sure.

Yes and no. It's been altered by the original author to complement Daniel Craig's Bond. The core of the plot remains, I think.

But unlike Rogue Agent, this game is actually very good.

Well I got the game with the golden controller and that controller is so much easier to use then any given wiimote.

In terms of controls, it's easy to learn and adapt but I will say that the regenerative health can be a plus since the game is pretty damn difficult, so many guards, it's not just having a lot of them in the level, it's having them come at you in great clusters and totally clusterfuck your ass, now unless the Classic Mode is just normal mode with the health bar and armour then fine, I'll work with that but if it's super hard mode then screw it.

A problem for me right now is getting it online, I know my Wii is connected and I've gotten online with Mario Kart Wii but now when I connect to this I get the message "Unable to connect to the game server", is this just because the game is new and it's working out the kinks or is it on my end?

Other then that, great game, I'm a bit disappointed that the character designs of the characters look different and/or younger (Trevalian looks nothing like Sean Bean and isn't voiced by him either) but what are you going to do. I have no friends in real life who are willing to play with me so I'm stuck just playing online.

Oh and the level in Barcelona has one hell of a great soundtrack.

Well, the first level goes out of its way to almost be exactly like that of the original, it opens the same way, the level design is almost exact, all that differs is what happens in the level. Other then that, yeah the game looks nothing like the original but why complain, it's a good game and all the key parts of the old game are still there even if they've squashed two levels into one and it's damn enjoyable.

I've only got one question: Will it work with a Gamecube controller? I dunno if I wanna get a bunch of Classic controllers just for this.
