My usual approach for any fan works was to assume that the princess-ness wouldn't hold long once anything resembling a plot came along. Because being completly devoid of "dakr feelings" is unnatural. And going by what the series showed us so far, it doesn't make interesting characters.

I think in my KH 3-esque story it was actually Xehanort that corrupted Kairi, partially just to fuck with everyone, mostly because the main character used that same corruption to kick major ass and almost killed of Xehanort in chapter three. He figured that it'S easier to control someone with darkness who has never had any experience with defending against it.

Now I will be playing KH 3 imagining Kairi hearing voices that tell her to hump random things on the way.

I like how the only person who can't be a Nort is only immune because ASOD tried way too damn hard to make him a Nort.
