Honestly, the fandom was at a bad place between Kingdom Hearts II and Birth by Sleep. I joined right at the end, but I've seen enough fanart too know how bad it was. Nowadays it is much more tolerable. I mean, there is still bad stuff, but it's not really that bad.
Check out my YouTube-channel, if you wantIn between II and BBS, huh? Sounds about right. I started looking at fan stuff around the time Days came out.
Seriously, what was with everybody?
Oh God! Natural light!Lots of character bashing.
Thundra! Rat-a-tat-tat-tat! Dual-wielding Roxas limit break!
Sorry, muscle reaction.
please call me "XionKuriyama" or some variation, thanks! | What is the good deed that you can do right now?
I think it was because Kingdom Hearts as a franchise was kind of at a transitional period at that time. Kingdom Hearts II was the last really big Kingdom Hearts game and brought in a lot of new fans. There was a sense of directionlessness after II, what with it's weird, convoluted plot that had yet to be enriched by Days and Birth by Sleep. The Organization was just a bunch of pretty boys, Xehanort was just that hot guy, which, of course, invited a lot of headcanons from it's new fans.
Honestly thinking back, I am very glad were the fandom is now. I mean, we don't like how Kairi is treated now, but back then it was almost part of etiquette to constantly bash her and Naminé. The worst offense I've seen recently is that fans ignore her because they don't consider her particularly interesting.

Oh God! Natural light!I mean.
I wonder if the perception would have been any different if the Final Mixes had been released earlier originally.
Why would that make a difference?
Oh God! Natural light!I think it might have affected some perceptions of Xemnas and Xigbar.
Like, I distinctly remember a few stories before Days where it seemed like Xigbar was completely unimportant and didn't know anything. Which was sorta wrong.
How do you think it might have affected things, though?
Oh God! Natural light!Xigbar being important doesn't register in KH 2 -He really doesn't do anything, Its Saix who does the most confrontation and ****s with Sora- Hell Even with Days and BBS... Xigbar still doesn't do anything in KH 2 to warrant attention. I mean he does have few more scenes with Sora but like alot of the Org members who don't get focus, its just enigmatic misdirection or accidental truths
Take into account COM did kinda beat you over the head with the NUMBER =/= POWER or RANK
Also, Xigbar pretty much dies in the middle of a string of quick deaths so Xemnas can be the last Org member left
Even Saix's final confrontation comes off as "Thats it?"
Axel dies, Then Xigbar, Then Luxord and Finish with Saix

I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!Xigbar has like two or three more scenes in the Final Mix version in the Organization meetings and when he talks about the Chamber of Repose though.
Those give him more focus.

Gotta say, Xigbar is among my favorite Org characters now, after BBS and FM+. It's a shame that the hints at him having his own agenda in the end of BBS were overridden by "nope, Nort!".
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%."Whatever. I got my hands full with my own plans."

That doesn't mesh with his "I'm already half Xehanort" line in 3D. He appears to be aware that he'll be subsumed by Xehanort. Still, I can hold out hope of some Starscreaming. Also, I found it interesting how he has his Xigbar face but his Braig outfit when brought back. And that all the Nort eyes have a darker ring in the middle of the iris.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.That's true of all the eyes in Kingdom Hearts, its a stylistic thing.
Xehanort is treacherous enough to betray himself.
Well the thing off about Braig
is even after getting a gold eye... His personality has not changed in any distinctive way.
Unlike Say Saix distinct brutalness compared to Isa and him seemingly being aware he is losing his will and desire to betray Xemnas
You could assume that his Xehanort half isn't taking control cause Braig is still pretty much going with the plan of his own free will so no need to ruin his individuality.
Braig has somehow become immune
or
related to the first point, Whatever Braig's plotting... somehow does not in anyway interfere with Xehanort's scheme thus total control is not needed as long as Braig does what Evil Spock tells him.
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole! In Saix's cutscenes and Secret Reports in Days it seems like he's not aware of jackshit.
He blames Lea/Axel for being the one who's changed.
Oh dammit. Not the Hydra's back.

GET UP ON THE HYDR
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.@tattoo link: Aw, snuggling. Albeit naked snuggling, but snuggling nonetheless.
Oh God! Natural light! They're both wearing pants.
Oh yes, massive dick. The biggest dick who ever dicked.
I'd love seeing Xion beat him up, although what I really want to see is for her and Roxas to team up against Xemnas. Lea can help too, I guess.
Anyway, I remember this!
...It was funnier then than it is now. If I ever found it funny at all. I might not have.
Never understood this, though.
