Wait, did Elliot always work at the secret bakery? I thought he just hanged around there lots.
I believe he was their Hanners analogue.
...Hannerlogue.
Huh, I always thought he was their Martin.
Sorta. But he's a Marten who works there. He was first shown behind the counter.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.He also doesn't seem to really have any neuroses
Whereas Hanners......
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI never said he was exactly like Hannelore. The same way Renee is not exactly like Faye. The similarity was basically a one-off joke, and then they became their own characters. Elliot is Hanners because he was by far the nicest person who worked there.
Wouldn't that make him Raven? Who did still work at COD when El was introduced?
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI think he's much closer to Marten than Hannelore, and not just because I like Brun as the Hannelogue.

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableThe panel he was introduced in he was talking about this girl he was hung up on, and, it was just the most pre-the-talk Martin thing ever. So I instantly contextualised him as Bakery-verse Martin.
Which guess caused me to assume he didn't work there.
Damn I miss Padma, for a minor character I really got hooked on her.

Is this chassis the same as this one?
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youThe second one looks a lot bigger.
Faye is also a lot smaller in the old artstyle.
But there's no reason for it to be an exact same physical object. That chassis was an early prototype, so there likely was similar massproduced version at a later point.
Why is Claire pretending not to know Marten and Dora used to date?
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youProbably trying some joke with sitcom drama theme.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
H.B. WardAnd then Brun and Hannerlore met
I realise that is a misleading link, Brun and Hannerlore don't actually meet in this strip.

"I hasten to interject that I have potentially time-sensitive data that merits immediate consideration." - VaarsuviusI like how Claire's singular instance of a character flaw is now a lovable quirk.
That's actually a much more realistic representation of a character quirk. Kleptomania might teach you useful skills in the event of a zombie apocalypse. The ability to lie baldly might save your life.
"flaw" is such a weird word. People have "traits". Some of them hinder you sometimes, and help you at others.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI say flaw mostly because it was the first time Claire, like, had an actual character flaw? I've always thought Claire was a really good character, her relationship with Marten was basically the first time I've ever actually been interested in him until it just never stopped being saccharine, and she doesn't need anxiety issues and crippling alcoholism to be interesting, but it's still kind of annoying. It's gone from "Claire should not try to annoy Clinton into doing things" to "Claire annoying Clinton into doing things is funny."

Jaques has been very gentle with Claire.
I can see why he might feel inclined to be that way, though.
Having a persecuted minority IRL as a character is a minefield.
Like, you have to navigate the minefield or you'll never get away from the DMZ, but you're still navving a minefield.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI mean, that's okay, I just prefer how Dumbing Of Age does it.
Carla is an absolute butthole. Sal is anti-authority to absurd degrees. Billie and Ruth are a complete mess. They get to be minorities and also have interesting foibles and make mistakes.
Like I didn't need Claire to be depressed and miserable, it just feels like a cop out to have her first major mistake as a character now be treated as wacky and silly. It'd be like if Faye started drinking again only she was completely fine.
Yeah that would be super gross.

Fact: it is incredibly difficult for someone to look bad in a tuxedo.
