I think they've already got it. Look up "ingested spermicide" I think is the proper term.

Googled (male pill), got this as the first hit

“I would rather rely on a solution that doesn’t involving medicating myself and the problems women have had with hormone therapy doesn’t make me anxious to want to sign on to taking a hormone-type therapy,” says Hardin, who is single and a college administrator.

For the first time, a safe, effective and reversible hormonal male contraceptive appears to be within reach. Several formulations are expected to become commercially available within the near future.

I seem to have found a flaw in their logic.

read it again, what he is saying is that he want to give people the choice, but it's just not what he would personally chose.

Seems like an excellent idea. I hope they develop it for widespread use soon.

^^ Why? there are women who prefer non-hormonal BC as well. But hormonal is the easiest to figure out.

women have a lot more BC options, with men it boils down to abstinence, rubbers or getting it 'fixed'.

True, I found it lulz worthy that one of their opening lines was "most men don't want to use hormonal methods so we developed a hormonal method".

Where does it say "most men wouldn't use hormonal bc"? The closest they come is "many men are wary".

Blah, the dude said it about himself. Just found it lulz worthy. Maybe it's the sleep dep kicking in. Apparently I need more than two hours and generic brand energy drink.

joeyjojo: Women have more options because birth control and the risk of pregnancy are historically thought to be the woman's problem.

true but they are biological factors, it's easier to 'guard the base' rather then 'recall the troopers', there is millions of those little buggers.

joeyjojo: Women have more options because birth control and the risk of pregnancy are historically thought to be the woman's problem.

But also because there are more viable solutions available for women than men. Female birth control through hormone regulation is much easier, because women have a hormone regulated pattern of ovulation, whereas men produce sperm all the time. It's also harder to create an internal barrier method for men (like the IUD,) because a) there's less space, and b) men have their excretory system routed directly through their reproductive organ.

What viable methods of birth control to be used by men can you think of that aren't already in use, not including this pill?

Hey now, the civil engineer only did that because a bureaucrat required him to do so by law.

Anyway, I figure rubber would be more well accepted than a hormonal treatment. Simpler anyways, plus the woman doesn't have to do anything so the onus is being placed on the guy if that were an issue between two partners. Although I suppose, it can still fail...

Condoms affect the physical sensation of sex though, and interrupt spontaneity, whereas a pill doesn't.

Other methods can't replace the protection against STDs offered by condoms, but they may still have their advantages.

Either gender's pill does nothing to prevent ST Ds, whereas condoms do.

If I'm asking for advice on a story idea, don't tell me it can't be done.

Trojan should create full-body prophylactics for both genders with full life support, for deep-space usage.

^^^^^actually it's a fair sensibly design, Urine doesn't just flush out toxics form the body, it also washes out trapped biomatter that can lead to urinary tract injections, (which is why you should not fight the urge to take a slash after having sex)
