In 50-100 years, watch cricket burgers suddenly become haute cuisine that cost a fortune. I mean, look at how lobster went.

Maybe, but in this case I think it's just because they're more convenient to raise as a source of protein than cattle, on a "frontier" planet.

Raising cattle for meat is terrifyingly resource-inefficient, but you'd think they'd have vat beef or something similar by now.

@4258 Well, once upon a time, lobster was the ocean cockroach that was cheap to buy, so poorer families near oceanic areas would eat it because, well, it was the readily available and affordable protein source.

I'm just predicting the cyclical nature of "poor people's food to haute cuisine" is going to hit cricket burgers in-verse next.

The thing that's odd about "no one cares about what happens to the mechanical portion of the cyborg" to me is that normally a cyborg only has one person in it. The cybernetic and biological portions are integrated, not discreet. It's like saying "no one cares what happens to the spinal column after brain death".

In fact, in the only other example I can think of where the cyborg has both an organic and a digital intelligence is (was) DoytHaban.

Well in this case Eleanor and the Chief are really two different individuals that just happen to be working just a bit closer than side-by-side.

Yes it is a bit of a weird turn of phrase. And it still remains a bit weird even including the comic's context.

From context we can conclude that having a robotic brain assisting in driving the cybernetics is standard in this universe. However, Jean's Bowman Robots are really the first time there was a sapient AI, and thus for all other extant cyborgs there really wasn't anybody in those cybernetics to care about.

We don't have people inside boxes now​, but there's plenty of serious discussion about potential AI problems.
