Or maybe his wounds never quite fully healed, and he needs more rest because of it.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. What's the best way to disrupt an already fragile truce? Have the boss come back.◊
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"So, Ishiguro : Reasonable Authority Figure or Obstructive Bureaucrat ? All bets are off !
Worldbuilding is fun, writing is a choreWell◊, there's my answer.
Worldbuilding is fun, writing is a choreOh, this is gonna go "super well".
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempeOh, Jeez. We are super screwed.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Damn, I had hoped Ishiguro to be of the reasonable type.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Well he's probably more reasonable than Kornada, but when you're competing against a slug, even a tortoise is fast.
Well, you can't have a story without conflict, right ?
Worldbuilding is fun, writing is a chore@2810 Yeah, but conflict doesn't have to originate from the top.
I'm more than a little worried. I've conjectured before about what would happen if someone more competent had caught wind of Kornada's plan and tried to take control of it for themselves. To take a step more sinister, what if the plan had been Ishiguro's all along? He would set up Clippy to help Kornada perform the plan (maybe even suggest it), but if Clippy had higher orders, he could have set up Kornada to be the patsy and get all the money for himself and let Kornada play the stooge and take the fall. I mean, using Kornada's greed and ego to play him for a fool? Almost too easy.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. It'd be interesting to see Sam Starfall interfere with the guy if he's gonna be the next antagonist.

The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls! If he's smart, he'll simply appeal to the robots and their sense of duty. Those robots who have assets, a voluntary donation of a small amount on a regular basis to Ecosystems Unlimited, call it a fund for improvement of robot technology. Ecosystems Unlimited gets a huge publicity boost, their stock goes up, and they're getting a steady stream of revenue.
This is going to be hard.◊ And that is not what she said.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Raibert has an approval rating issue.◊ I suppose that's the price one pays for trying to be moral in this situation.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Alternately, it's the price one pays for not actually being in charge, just being in charge of the situation.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. He doesn't want to do this alone◊

Trump delenda estIs it just or is Raibert hinting to Max◊ that the time for desperate action is now?
If Ishiguro wanted things to work according to plan, he probably shouldn't have incorporated the works of a genius Moral Sociopath in the first place.

Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. Why does Ishiguro even has superiors he must answer to if they can only be reached every other year ?
Worldbuilding is fun, writing is a choreEverybody has superiors they must answer to.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I don't think the operative question is "why" Ishiguro has superiors. I think the operative question is, just what his relationship to those superiors is if he only communicates with them once per year? Just how much flexibility is he given with his directives? His supplies? His environment? I think that determines much of what we'll see Ishiguro do in the end.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.Yes, my question was less "why does he have superiors" and more "why is he supposed to answer to them". The planet is effectively isolated, he should have full responsibility.
