Dante just kinda got a massive power spike post DMC 1 even though he only beat back Mundus cause A the demon world allowed him to access Sparda's power and B Trish lending her power to take down the weakened Mundus
Mundus is actually one of the few opponents Dante shows signs of fatigue against now that i think of it.
Ironically Dante as the invincible hero is more too do with his portrayal in DMC 2 then it did in DMC 1
That Ariel fight was a straight up cop pout... The Poker demon got a fight but the Demon you've been kinda building up too all series long gets offscreened!
Does One-Winged Angel ever play in your head whenever you see Mundus?
Mundus isn't pretty enough for one winged angel
Would you really call Safer Sephiroth pretty?
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Nah, homeless weirdo usurped Abigail's power and I always thought Despair Embodied was on a lower power level than Mundy. Both Arkham and Sanctus attempted to steal Sparda's power but were unable to pull out his full strength, implicitly because they lacked The Power of Love, hence they got bodied.
Anyway, you either need to be born into or attain power through your own means in DMC World. Stealing power gets you no where.
It occurred to me that Vergil has gotten his ass kicked or been killed in every form of DMC media.
DMC 1 - Killed by Dante
DMC 1 Novel - Ass kicked by Dante
DMC 2 Novel - Killed by alt Mundus in the alt human world
DMC 3 - Ass kicked by Dante/Mundus
Dm C - Ass kicked and "killed" by Dante
They hate the guy or something.

Not to mentioned he's dead in the main 'verse too. An enemy type in DMC4 is explicitly made from pieces of Nelo Angelo's corpse.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! It's like... you're not really supposed to like him. There's really not much to Vergil other than being an obstacle in Dante's path - because there needs to be something other than gameplay mechanics and Satan that can put Dante at a standstill.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Being The Rival in a character action series, it stands to reason Vergil would get his ass kicked a lot. To his credit, it's only Dante or Mundus that defeats him.
Vergil's record with Dante is 1 Win , 2 Draws '2nd 3 fight and 1st Nelo fight you could argue it was Nelo had the advantage and then spazzed out at the last moment when he had Dante dead to rights' and 3 losses '3rd 3 fight, 2nd and 3rd Nelo fights'
Dm C Vergil's not suppose to be much of a fighter so him losing to Dm C Dante whose been doing most if not all the footwork makes sense
Just remembered that he never got his ass kicked in the DMC 3 manga either, and he arguably even beat Dante in their fight.
VERGIL'S WIN/LOSS RATIO CANNOT BE IGNORED
Wonder how many will get this reference.
Vergil is generically cool. He's likeable in the same way, like, Vegeta is.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.... So... You got my reference?
Well he said Vegeta didn't he?
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!There are many times when talking about Vegeta is appropriate.
90% of my life is spent talking about Vegeta.
Yeah, nah, that was a total coincidence. DBTAS, I assume?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Searching "Win/Loss Ratio cannot be ignored" gave me a very amusing neogaf thread.
That may have been what I was referencing and Two Best Friends Play may have led me to it.
"Who Would Win" is a lot of fun in small doses.

Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I take it this series is completely dead now(I gave up long ago).
While I would have liked a DMC 5 announcement at TGS, I wouldn't count the series dead yet, since if Special Edition was a success, then a year wouldn't be enough to show off proper gameplay footage yet.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...
The only person I can think of who fits that description is Arkham. Abigail (or whatever its name was) and Chaos (or whatever its name was) both had their power from the start.
