I just finished my rewatch of Season 2. I won't go into great detail, as I'm not sure how far along Händel is and don't want to spoil anything... but in the category of "details not greatly important to the plot," Ivanova gave Sheridan his Christmas present early! At the end of the episode, she is shown lighting her menorah, and lighting all eight candles. So this scene takes place at sundown (or the B5 equivalent) on 17 December 2259. Therefore she was about a week early in giving Sheridan his Christmas present!

Since I'm in a interfaith (if "faith" is the right term when applied to two people who both approach things in a very secular fashion) relationship where we celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah, I notice these things... waii

btw Händel, if you are interested The Lurker's Guide to the individual eps is interesting, specially since it collects the episode-related Word of God from back when JMS was active in the B5 newslists

I'll second that that website is a very good source of information. I've also got the five books (one for each season) that Jane Killick wrote. Always thought it a pity that that series didn't have two more (one for the B5 telefilms, and one for Crusade).

I don't have any of the other reference books that have come out for the series, but a lot of the Word of God info is out there. JMS is quite good about explaining things to his fans (as long as doing so wouldn't be a spoiler for something later, if said explanation was being given while the show was still in production).

Since I read Lot R in german first and only way later in english, I knew that originally from Elric alone. I even use his version too, if appropriate.

Also, the Green and Purple thing was hilarious.

It kinda stopped being funny when the corpses started piling up, but it became funny again given the green's attitudes about it. "Station quiet! Everybody win!"

Aah! Huge error in the first episode of season three!

Each season covers a calander year. Season three is supposed to be in 2260. Sheridan explicitly refers to the events of the previous episode as "last week." As I stated a few of my posts ago, the last episode ends on 17 December since Ivanova is lighting eight candles on her menorah. If it is only a week later, it can't be 2260 yet!

I suppose since Hanukkah is one of those strange holidays, like Easter, that has fluctuating dates, and to non-Jews it is commonly just associated as, "that holiday that happens around the same time as Christmas," and Google wouldn't have existed when this episode was written (which is how I found out the date of Hanukkah in 2259), JMS can be cut a little slack... But still! tongue

"The past tempts us, the present confuses us, and the future frightens us. And our lives slip away, moment by moment, lost in that vast, terrible in-between. But there is still time to seize that one last, fragile moment. To choose something better, to make a difference. And I intend to do just that."

Oh man... What a rush! I intended to take things at a slightly more leasurly pace when I started season three a few days ago... and I finished season four today! (And that included slipping Thirdspace between episodes 8 and 9. Likewise, I plan, when I get to the end of season five, to save the last episode until after the rest of the films, The Lost Tales, and Crusade in the appropriate order.) But those two seasons, especially season 4, are dangerous! "Oh, I'll just watch one or two episodes..." is soon followed by, even if you've seen it before, "Great Maker! I have to see what happens next!"

Händel, if you're still in season two or three, this won't have been an issue yet. But as you do get further along to where different viewing orders on when to watch the films and spin-offs may be an option, were you just going to watch them at the end after finishing the TV series, or did you want to slip them into your viewing chronologically? If chronologically, let me know and I can offer you a suggested order.

I just saw a doctor seal himself with a contaminated patient and make crucial steps to find the cure to a terrible disease, dying in the process.

That is the most honourable death I can imagine. Well done, that man.
