I think they call splitting the hand a double down in Blackjack? I didn't remember the term, but I know full well you can run two hands if you get the same number twice.

I've never played Caravan, so I've no idea about the rules of the game. Though the name definitely suggests having multiple hands.

Splitting the hand is just called splitting the hand. Doubling down is when you bet double on the chance that the very next card is the one that'll let you win.

Okay, so I had it right from the get go.

My confusion was that I've never seen it pop up in New Vegas.

They might not have included that little maneuver in theirs. I'm not sure why, but considering all the other good research they did, they might have gotten research fatigue from the rest.

What, splitting? You can totally do that. I usually reserve it for when I get two tens or a face card, but it's there.

I've been able to split the hand when I get two of the same face card n my initial hand. Might not have noticed when I get two of the same number. I had max luck, so it might have...tipped the balance towards giving me lots of face card + number.

That might be because we're talking about blackjack right now.

Blackjack? No, that's the blunt instrument you hit people in the back of the head with if you want them to go down and never get back up. Actually, it's both. We're talking about the card game, but there IS a stealth weapon in real life called a blackjack.

I never thought of it as a stealth weapon, and more of as a police thing. One that basically got replaced by fuckhueg maglites.

So whats a good build/stat for an unarmed/guns build? I assume maxing INT and END/STR

Hmm. High endurance, but a 6-7 strength and whatever intelligence you want to afford.

Unarmed is increased by Endurance, not Strength, right? I know the ballistic fist does need 9 Strength to equip it, though.

I wouldn't ignore Luck, since crits can be a real godsend.

So I started up a new Playthrough. I am doing Adrian Shepard from Opposing Force, any advice on what mods I should use other than a Glock mod and a MP 5 mod?

There are several modern armor mods on the Nexus if you want to go the full spec ops guy route.

You know, I was expecting there to be a mod that made it wearing power armor 'recycled' your waste like was mentioned in Fallout 1 or 2. Have it just act like the vault 13 canteen, but for food and water.

Could you link some that would fit the HECU Marine please?

Oh, and I can now confirm that Old World Blues is LOADS easier with an Energy Weapons playthrough than a Guns playthrough. Melee/Unarmed is mostly affected by the weapon, I guess.
