I have seen the anime of Inuyasha, and read the manga in its entirety.
I have never seen or read Ranma, though.
Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.I'm biased toward Inuyasha since I grew up watching it, and I haven't seen much of Ranma, so I can't make a choice. However, I'm not much of a comedy fan, so I doubt I'll take to Ranma. Also, Inuyasha seems a lot more atmospheric and emotional - although that probably has to do with it being adventure-fantasy and not romantic comedy. I didn't like the art of the Ranma anime much either, it's so, I don't know, cartoonish.
Inuyasha. The animation and story compelled me to watch it more, then again I did watch it as a kid, too.
Everything is a lie.At first I thought jakotsu was a woman (female VA, lipstick, kimono, attraction to men) with really big hands.
Supposedly, rumiko made jakotsu female but changed her mind (because she didn't like the idea of inuyasha fighting a human woman. but, inuyasha fought the human dark priestess, and jakotsu is basically a possessed undead golem anyway)
I find the inuyasha characters better overall.
plus we get sesshomaru's heartwarming character developement via rin and kagura (another favorite of mine).
(Though i dislike koga's villain ball intro, slaughtering rin's village, plus the idiot ball of him never using his sword)
And naraku's english VA make him delightfully hammy, especially his onigumo flashbacks.
the filler battle between shippo and soten is pretty good too.
I for one happen to enjoy both series. But Ranma 1/2 really does it for me for a few reasons. For one thing I just happen to enjoy comedy a lot more, and while Ranma is indeed a comedy it can pull off serious meaningful situations in its own way. Theres also the fact that I simply enjoy Akane more than Kagome, and her relationship with Ranma is just sheer entertainment. The handful of other quirky, unique, and funny characters the series has to offer only adds to my preference. I like Inuyasha for different reasons but Ranma 1/2 still stands out as my favorite between the two.
Interesting, I hadn't heard about that before but...
Why do the two main leads seem so familiar?
