"The Pirates!"?
Cumberbatch VS Depp would be an interesting (and deeeeeep) conversation. Speaking of "jaguars hiding in cellos":

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Is it on DVD yet?
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Pirates? I snatched it up on Bluray when I got off work on Black Friday for less than the DVD price.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI finally caved and watched the show after massive pressure from friends. It was brilliant and sadistic. I love Moffat's writing as always, and I think Scandal in particular had a very tense, very exciting story.
It did take me a while to get used to Cumberbatch as Sherlock, he's brilliant in the role and his voice matches it perfectly, but in certain ways he didn't just look it at first. Now it's hard to imagine if I prefer him or Robert Downy Jr as Sherlock.
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"Yeah, Jim and Heath Ledger's Joker are very close to being the same character. In fact a lot of the difference is more due to the fact that Sherlock is nothing like Batman than anything.
For me, it's between Cumberbatch and Jeremy Brett. I swear to hell, the Jeremy Brett Final Problem was my very first experience with Sherlock Holmes outside popcultural osmosis and a kid's adaptation of The Red-Headed League. Scarred me for years.
Hail Martin Septim!Well, yeah, but Jim is much more lively and energetic than Ledger's Joker. He also isn't "a man of simple tastes" at all. Also, he doesn't have as gruesome a taste. I mean, grafting a bomb into a minion's guts?
But, actually, Sherlock and Bats are both primarlily detectives, they fight rather well, utilizing Awesomeness by Analysis, they're antisocial and a pain in the neck for those who deal with them, they're ruthelessly efficient and very cynical... There's only one difference between the two, which is as great as the difference between Sherlock and Moriarty or the Joker: Batman has a very keen sense of right and wrong. He just doesn't bother being nice. Also, he's the opposite of Sherlock in that he's at his most idealistic when he is by himself; team him up with anyone, and he'll naturally occupy the grumpy cynic's niche.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.So apparently they never intended to air Series 3 in the summer. D'you think it'll start airing in late September, for the 110th anniversary of EMPT? That would be awesome.
Hail Martin Septim!Based on last year's hiatus, that seems likely.
So how would you guys want the series to end? I was thinking straight-up adaptation of His Last Bow, except more Bond-y, considering how much more advanced spying is from those days. Oh, and Europe would be on the eve of World War Three.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.I thought we were looking at early 2014.
Fresh-eyed movie blogLate 2013 is my guess.
Their iteration of His Last Bow won't be anything close to the original, because Moftiss simply don't roll that way. Remember Sherlock scoffing at Watson's loyalty to "Queen and country" regarding the Bruce-Partington plans? That's the biggest departure from Doyle, IMO, and their public statements are of a piece. I'm really not sure how anti-war anti-nationalists are going to do it - maybe they'll take the old fight-the-military-industrial-complex route, perhaps employing Anthea as the villain? (You do realize that she had to be talking to someone about how Watson thought Irene was Mycroft...)
Hail Martin Septim!First, that girl in Scandal was not Anthea. She's just credited as "Beautiful Woman", and it's not the same actress. And she was talking to Irene.
And I think they would do it by having Mycroft issue the job to Sherlock as a sort of challenge, and as we know, Sherlock wouldn't be able to resist.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.
I actually thought she was Kate (Irene's maid) the first time I saw her.
"You are never taller then when standing up for yourself"Just finished watching this series today, and a thought occurred to me that I never noticed before. In all the Holmes adaptations I've seen, Moriarty is always sort of held up as the Evil Counterpart to Sherlock Holmes. It's never been quite as noticeable to me before now, but one thing really stands out about that: it's unfair. They're both brilliant, but Moriarty is more than brilliant; he also always seems to have an infinite amount of resources, government/business pull, etc. He's not just dangerous because he can think on the same level as Holmes, but also because he has a wealth of resources at his disposal that he can use, while Sherlock's left with his wits and his Watson.
He's really not an evil Sherlock Holmes. He's an evil Mycroft.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Series 3 updates:
Episode 1, written by Mark Gatiss, is titled The Empty Hearst. An obvious homage to The Empty House.
Amanda Abbington, Martin Freeman's real-life partner, has joined the cast. Unknown who she's playing. Possibly Mary Morstan? Apparently she'll make her debut in the first episode.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again.I'd like to see Mary in the series, though I'm not looking forward to how Gatiss/Moffat will "modernise" her.
Hopefully she won't die off-screen like she did in the canon.
It's not over. Not yet.Yes! So far my first predictions for the stories that the episodes are based on are (seemingly) correct.
Second episode is called "The Sign of Three". If the third episode is based on The Red-Headed League, I'll be 3 for 3.
Also, Lara Pulver (Irene Adler) has said she's not involved in Series 3.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again. If any of you frequent Tumblr, everybody there is losing their shit because of all the spoilers from these last three weeks of filming, kinda makes you glad they're taking a 3 months break once the filming of this episode is done.
I can't have you close, so I become a ghost and I watch you, I watch you.Isn't The Red-Headed League at bit... absurd... to adapt for Sherlock?
The hint for the last episode is "bow," so my guess is it has something to do with His Last Bow. Perhaps the final episode of Sherlock?
It's not over. Not yet.I imagine League working in a sort-of modern heist-style film, with Sherlock competing against John Clay, trying to stop him stealing from various banks and museums. I think they could do a lot with modern technology with that one.
The last hurrah? Nah, I'd do it again. The plot of the red headed league is absurd but the concept of redheaded only group isn't. Catherine tate isn't quite as exaggerated as you would imagine.
I don't want to know why I just saw a Sherlock picture on Tumblr with a lemon randomly included, do I?
