Mori is the one that designed Mai's new outfit. And that's a spear not a naginata.
Uh, at least Hayamin?
Mori really needs to stop thinking with his dick.
Song of the SirensAre we sure? Joke or not, I don't want to (joke) brick the wrong person.
I want to be 100% sure Mori is at fault for this.
One Strip! One Strip!I'm pretty sure we can all agree that the series hit fanservice critical mass long ago. Part of the problem is that there's little to contrast it with, and I don't mean like "adding bare-chested dudes", otherwise Bang and Azrael might have been enough. The problem is that there needs to be more than T&A to make someone care about a character, because if all they're capable of is pumping blood to the naughty bits, then when the titillation wears off you're left with a worthless husk.
It's as fredhot said: character depth should not be limited to the skin. Part of the reason I like Makoto and Litchi as much as I do (Chris helped me with Litchi, of course) is because beneath the bountiful breasts and the revealing outfits are people who have their own merits, troubles and quirks — you know, things that make them people. Fanservice can be a bonus to a character, that's all well and good, but it shouldn't be the primary focus. And given how fredhot has no idea who or what Mai is, this is going to be a problem with Westerners who haven't done their homework and thus know nothing of the side material.
Also, for those who visit GameFAQs, Vulcan 422 had an adorable little freakout when the news hit.

Who knows, maybe Mai will actually be written really well.
I personally regret not being the first to post about this news here, but here's my reaction.

"Shake the dust." - Anis MojganiYep, Mori is the one who designed Mai's outfit. Sume confirmed that when Variable Heart was first revealed.

It's 2016, and people still haven't gotten used to the fanservice.
Come on guys, it's been 7 years, we shouldn't be surprised by this anymore.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I've become all but desensitized to fanservice at this point. Mai's new outfit is awful and really try-hard, but that's nothing new when it comes to the outfits the girls wear in this series.
Oh yea, the outfit is terrible, but that's par for the course for female characters.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Based on that last one, Mai's for "Noel must live" faction.
Is that really a spoiler
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I apologize for that. I can edit it?
It was a joke mostly because obviously Mai will side with Noel
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Regretfully found this in 4chan, but here's a pic sampling Mai's movelist◊.

Her emblem is a heart with her spear through it.
Darling you give fashion a bad name.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru!May I once again point out that I still see no purpose in Mai having one been male, beyond apparently appealing to ANOTHER fetish.
Twenty bucks says there are a million Doujinshi with her sprouting a extra part as well.
I won't read them, but I bet they'll be thrown into my line of sight anyway.
And now my whining is done, and y'all can focus on important things.
One Strip! One Strip! Is it bad that I tried to check if your statement is in anyway valid?
The quick answer is that there isn't a lot of pictures of Mai. There is I think only six pages of Mai pictures in pixiv, for one. And I have only really found one doujin with Mai in it (its hetero).

Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru!Well, give it time.
She's a known male turned female.
If Doujinshi artists will slap a penis on characters they know don't have them, there's no way they won't do it to someone they know used to have one.
Then again, if Mai isn't popular, then I suppose that's one way to avoid it.
But this is a weird conversation, and I probably need to stop it before I get lynched.
....So....that um....Carl....he sure is small eh? Tiny little guy he is. Yes sir.
One Strip! One Strip!Do we have any info on Mai's Drive yet?

There's additional information that's in this profile too.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Sounds like she's stepping on Litchi's toes a bit?
Song of the Sirens
"Why hello there" O.K, this is starting to get silly. Really? We're already stretching the fanservice with Makoto's large underboobs, Noel's skirt, Litchi's massive rack, Bullet's clevage and butt, Nine's get-up in CF and even before the series proper started, and even Izanami's sideboobs! Now we get more sideboobs (and quite ample ones, too), a bared midriff, and...what the hell are those pants? They look like Saphira Cohen's pants from "Kamandi at Earth's End"! (Look up Linkara and his review of "Kamandi at Earth's End", Issue 2.) Still, curious about why she seems to have the Nox Nyctores Ouroboros. Also, the hell is she and how'd she get here, assuming that she came from the same place as Naoato?
"....Wow. Of all the ways to dress her, that's what they choose. I want to know specifically who chooses the costume design for some female characters so I can make jokes about bricking them. Just jokes mind you. I'm not gonna get sued for threatening people, but still. The way some female characters dress in this is....just dammit. Dammit to infinity. Hope Mai is an entertaining character none the less." You'd think you would get used to the female characters in this series looking weird and fanservicy but then they pull out the Saphira Cohen pants. This sort of shit is one of the primary flaws of the series in my eyes. Fanservice is nice and all but too much of it can really be annoying. We already hit our fill of fanservice with Litchi, Noel, Tao, and Makoto! We're oversaturated with fanservice at this point! I thought the lowest point of the fanservice was Bullet, who did look sexually attractive (if you're into that sort of thing) but it came at the cost of her characterization. Makoto and Litchi were very fanservicy but they had their own Hidden Depths. Bullet, however, doesn't seem to have much development. But now, we've hit the lowest point of fanservice: Saphira Cohen pants! (Yeah, I'll complain about it all day. They look stupid!)
