I remain baffled by how this conversation has anything to do with Tumblr.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It analyzes a phenomenon within Tumblr. Though it's starting to wander a bit off.
The thing about Tumblr is that you can only talk so much about the site itself. At some point, the conversation is going to turn towards its contents.
It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.Back on topic, I still wish they'd fix the video player...
yeah, I hate autoplay. :|
In general there are so many things wrong with Tumblr's interface that they never seem to care to fix. Instead doing silly things.
A brighter future for a darker age.Or how the powers that be have a laundry list of excuses for there being no quote button that includes "hard to program" yet they redesigned the whole site from the ground up for what seems to be no reason(and made it less intuitive by hiding buttons that used to be out in the open within a menu)
Honestly I think a common criticism of the interface of a lot of sites is that the designers and coders aren't regular users. Add this to the fact that the people spending the money don't really care about user experience unless the rats are actually leaping from the sinking ship; otherwise, they'll nix UI improvements because they think it'll affect e.g. advertising display.
A brighter future for a darker age.Speaking of staff have no goddamn idea what they're doing, MORE CHANGES TO BE DUMPED TOMORROW!
Even better, considering their infinite wisdom, likely none of it will be optional. (:
I understand not making something optional. Every time you add options to your software you're increasing the number of possible configurations and thus the possible bug scenarios. You're making it harder to support. It's generally the open-source way of addressing disagreement (give us a checkbox!) but sometimes it's necessary to test A versus B extensively and implement just one of them. Do it right and the bitching will be minimal.
A brighter future for a darker age.I think they want to make tumblr look "slick"
Read my stories! And that's precisely the kind of bloat that'll turn "slick" into "slow and clunky"
Well, moreso than Tumblr already suffer.

Honestly I don't think it would be the worst offender.
Recently I turned off endless scrolling; it's just too buggy.
A brighter future for a darker age.And yet that never seems to be the case with sites like Tumblr, Facebook, and Youtube.
They have a problem of wanting to "fix" what isn't broken and refusing to admit they goofed up.

I think part of it is a terror of the Internet's neophilia and that keeping things the same will lead to them being thought as "old-fashioned" and losing social cachet.
A brighter future for a darker age.I mean I'm pretty sure there's some psych fact out there that says small changes create positive reactions and more use, but I dunno, that might only be in work places.
Read my stories!Where's David Bowie when you need him?
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.Wait, is there a way to turn off endless scrolling in favor of page-based for your dashboard?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.yes it's in options I believe and it is glorious -_-
Read my stories!...Well, I wish I'd have known that months ago.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Um, I guess I helped things get off topic again. Sorry. ^^;
Maybe this will be more on topic. One of my favourite tumblrs is this one. Every time I make a new tumblr and try to get into it, I always follow them. It has a little bit a a... vulgar name. So I'll put it in spoilers...

It's the best place for Iris pictures I've found on the internet. I'm a big Iris fan so this is one of my favourite tumblrs. I got a lot of my avatars from this blog tumblr thing.

Why were you born in such a cruel, violent world? That preview gives me a bad, bad feeling.
I'm currently taking it to mean you can choose to do things like reblog select portions of people's posts, which is only going to make it easier - if not outright encourage - people to quote things as out of context as they like.
And I have no reason to see how that could possibly be a good thing.
On the other hand, I'm not sure how much it would be able to make it worse.
A brighter future for a darker age.The preview to the tumblr I posted? Oh, yes, it's kind of vulgar.
The name is, at least. It's kind of a meme or something on tumblr to name things that. The tumblr is safe for work and not lewd.
I tend to stay away from lewd anime things, because... well, I don't want to talk or think about that too much.

Why were you born in such a cruel, violent world?
Considering culture is pretty much a social concept(and race is only only classification giving to certain common combinations genetic/physical traits indigenous to certain areas), I find it odd.
