I never considered that it might be Raava activating it. I always thought it was kind of a fight/flight/shit yourself instinctual thing.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt's both.
I still like the mental image of an Earth Avatar with only Korra to ask Avatar-y advice from.
"No, Punching probably won't work." "Oh come on, it worked for literally every problem I had!"
Workout routine! A little NSFW.
It didn't work on Unalaq/Vaatu, or Kuvira.
What worked on them was lasers.

Lasers are like punching someone with light.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThat last one!

People are mirrors. If you smile, a smile will be reflected.I guess what really worked on Kuvira though was that whole "empathy" thing. Trying to see where someone else is coming from.
When Kuvira came out of the portal some of her mecha tanks were there waiting. She could have had them rescue her and keep going.
And, well. I'm not sure Korra's punches were what worked against Zaheer. It seemed more like a big air tornado. And a chain.
True.
She also threw mountaintops at him.
It didn't quite work. He dodged most of them.
It took the air nomads and their tornado to get him down.
Korra's not even the one that beat Ghazan, Ming Hua or P'Li.
I'm still surprised she didn't wrap the chain around him neck and break it while they were in the tornado. Just dragging him down by his ankle was strangely merciful as the capper to the brutal death conga that happened to the rest of the Red Lotus.
With season four behind us, it's clear Zaheer lived so he'd be around for that scene where he helps Korra meditate into the Spirit World, but it's still weird.
EDIT: Although one might argue that killing him would be overkill because he's already dead inside anyway.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Is it too late to snap his neck with a chain? I mean, they're right there.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I'm pretty sure there are laws against that.
Oh God! Natural light!Stairs
Oh really when?Presumably the White Lotus or some other court handed what they saw as an appropriate sentence (again). Why in Koh's name he didn't get the death penalty this time for regicide I have no idea, but there you go.
There is no beginning. There is no end. There is only... Hooty.Well she was kind of a dick. Not like anyone is gonna miss her
Oh really when?Because there was no Earth Kingdom government to try him for regicide. Any crimes committed against the Earth Kingdom are outside the jurisdiction of whoever would try him, leaving only his crimes against the Air Nomads and the Avatar.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I again submit that the Avatar world doesn't use the death penalty anymore.
Oh God! Natural light!Probably Aang's influence.
People are mirrors. If you smile, a smile will be reflected.I'm not sure whether that's mercury or whether Metal benders can just change states of matter of things like that. Still neat though.
Toph likes statues of herself. She can appreciate them. Unlike something like, say, paintings.
EDIT: I don't think you could really hang someone that can fly.
Or push them down stairs.

It's normal metal. We've seen them bend metal substances so smoothly that they move like fluid many times.
For the record, I don't think they're actually shifting phases with the metals, they're just moving it and restructuring it so rapidly that it resembles a fluid when in motion.

Does Raava get control? I mean, yeah, probably, when the Avatar isn't fully realized yet, but.
Actually, maybe not even then, because Aang's usages of it were kind of dumb if you think about it.
I wish the Avatar State was a booster rocket though.
