Youtube Poop

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I published my first YTP the other day:

Thoughts?

Not terrible for a first. My thoughts are as follows:

• In general, it's a very slow poop. There are frequent bits where several seconds go by without an edit. Try to do a bit more with your source next time.
  • As a result of the pacing, the video's six-minute length makes it a bit cumbersome to watch. Don't be afraid of making shorter videos; a 45-second poop with a constant flow is often better than a 7-minute poop with relatively little editing. Longer videos with a constant flow can be done, but they are hardly easy to pull off.
• Opinion-based advice:
  • "Test screen" jokes are rather stale, so seeing several in one video got boring pretty much instantly. If you have to have them, I would suggest cutting them down to one gag every 1-2 videos, or subverting them in some way.
  • If you're going to use an "overused" gag, it's better to simply use it and keep it moving then to lampshade it. If you still wish to lampshade it, keep it brief and not so conspicuous.

Gotcha. Those are some good pointers. Admittedly, there actually were a few parts I did feel like I could have gone back and fixed after uploading it. Maybe eventually I'll be better with YTP and go back and "remake" this Mutt & Jeff one that addresses these issues.

The YTP I'm working on next (a Gumby one), so far, I feel like will flow a bit better and have a significantly faster pace (there aren't as many dead-air moments in it so far) and I feel like will probably end up being a bit shorter (maybe 3-4 minutes at the most? Mostly because I don't have as many ideas for portions of the source I'm using and will probably leave said portions out). And I probably will scale back on the "test screen" gags; there's one already, but I probably won't use more past that one.

My opinion: I hate ear murder so much and exited the poop literally one second in.

Yeah, you're not the first person to have had a problem with that. I'm definitely going to scale back on the sensory abuse in further YTPs. (And starting the YTP with that is one of the aforementioned things I feel like I should have gone back and fixed before uploading. In hindsight, it's a terrible way to open a YTP.)

Bah. Don't feel like you have to scale back on the Sensory Abuse for others' sake. Really, you don't even have to regard my own advice. At the end of the day, YTP is about making things you find funny. Sometimes someone will find it and agree.

I understand DaThings1 is kind of polarizing for some, but to me, this will never not be funny. It's even more impressive when you realize that he only pooped half of the musical.

I'm looking for a specific poop that I can't find anymore and I was wondering if any of you know about it. It involves the Flintsotnes (or maybe Griffins, it was a long time ago) watching a television program that consists of a bunch of Steve nUnivers sound clips edited to make it sound like the have an orgy.

Your ideas and jokes are decent, but the editing leaves a lot to be desired. Also, the video is rendered as a small square in the middle of a black void, so I'd suggest adjusting your render settings.

I would also advise you watch some tutorials for whatever video editing software you're using so you can learn how to edit better.

I keep forgetting to post the new YTPs I make in this thread. 😅

Anyway, here are some of the poops I've made since the Gumby one:

A filler YTP based on the Nick India Dab meme that I made to commemorate its one-year anniversary. Just a silly random meme video.

I made my first attempt at a somewhat story-based YTP with this Popeye one and began setting the stage for an overarching plot-line ala MoBroStudios and Schafrillas Productions. Unfortunately, this caused the YTP to end up being even longer than the Mutt and Jeff video because I had some trouble balancing the story between the jokes and the more "story"-focused parts and it really kinda shows, with long stretches of gag-based edits and long stretches of story-based edits. That being said, though, I think I had the most fun editing this one out of all of my YTPs and I still think it has some good gags.

I just uploaded this one, using the original trailer for Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves as the primary source. I had some fun with this one as well and feel that it has better gags than some of my earlier ones. (I hope you guys don't mind a bunch of stupid butt jokes. 😅)

I'm actually making a story-based YTP right now. And while I work on that, I might as well show you guys my latest YTP.

So, this is an Asterix YTP (if you couldn't tell already). This is the longest YTP I've uploaded so far, and I had a lot of fun editing it. So, what's my next YTP about?

Well, I'm working on two at the moment. The main one is a YTP of A Goofy Movie, the story-based YTP I mentioned before. The other is just a filler Total Drama YTP. I actually have tried making them before, but errors occured and I lost the files for them. Multiple times.
