And then there's Persona 1 with like sixteen. I'm guessing part of why P5 brought back Nuke and Psi was Cast Speciation; P4 was already running into problems with elemental overlap and that was with the smallest playable cast of the entire franchise (counting the P2 teams as a collective).

Lowkey that's a reason why I want Persona 6 to have a smaller playable cast. Maybe like 4-6 characters, with the non-MC ones having specialized roles but with a greater degree of customization in terms of movesets.

You can still have a lot of Persona-users, just maybe have them be support roles or do stuff other than fighting.

Who gets to do the mundane stuff like clean up the hide out?

x4 I would say 8 is really the minimum for a persona cast, there needs to be a variety of characters.

Well that I knew I was going with the world play.

But I gotta say, Mara being slang for penis in Japan is pretty hilarious.

I did like Reload giving everyone a specialization even with some elemental overlap.

Like Koromaru is a better Fire damage dealer than Junpei and has access to two elements but Junpei has access to all three Physical types and becomes a crit monster by the endgame. The Reload Combat Characteristics were generally stronger and more pronounced than Royal's party Persona traits.

There's still something I just have to question about the final boss of the previous versions of 3. Why did Nyx's individual actions each count as a seperate turn outside of One Mores? Seriously, to my knowledge no other boss in the series works like that. Was it just a bug, or was it deliberate? Because either way, again, it's the only boss in the series like that, and it was effectively a huge middle finger to anyone bringing Aki.

The Palace of a Kingdom Hearts character is bound to drive someone insane, really.

The Palaces are filled with way too much Kingdom Hearts lore that you'll be quizzed on later?

Hey, guys, I just finished Shadow Yukiko for the first time. So...not all Palace deadlines are going to be as tight as that one, right? Right?

The rule of thumb is, the deadline will be in the first week of the following month.

(so if a dungeon opens in July, you have to complete it by the second week of August)

Generally though you'll want to do them as soon as possible, really

Off the top of my head:

Bathhouse deadline is in first week of June.
Strip club deadline is in first week of July.
Gamer dungeon deadline is in mid-August.
Secret base deadline is in first week of October.
Sixth dungeon is in mid-November, but you may want to complete it early.
Seventh dungeon is in late December, but you may want to complete it by December 22.

The last two dungeons are only available on one day each.

The important thing is after Yukiko’s dungeon you unlock the ability to heal without leaving.

The next one could take a few days but it's still easy as hell to do it on one sitting thanks to being able to heal without leaving. After that you should have no problems taking them down in one go.

Generally speaking the deadline and overall difficulty of dungeons in Persona games is front loaded. By the time you get to like the third or fourth one you'll be in no particular rush.

Especially the first dungeon since you cant just pay Yen to heal. And it gets progressively cheaper as you increase in the related social link.

Another thing is that Shadow Yukiko has a higher level than Shadow Kamoshida and the Priestess Shadow. IIRC the former is around level 15 and the latter two are around level 12.

P4 also doesn't have the Baton Pass/Shift mechanic to make random encounters easier to deal with and it's the game where earning money early on is the hardest.

I just beat Shadow Kanji, so I'm feeling better about the schedule. And Shuffle Time is very nice, I wish they'd kept it in P5.

I liked Shuffle Time in P3, in the early game it was a much better means of getting new Persona than negotiating in early P5.

Speaking of P3 and P5, in the years since Persona 5 has released, the entirety of Persona -trinity soul- (which took place in 2019) has happened. I'm sure Persona 6 will have it be a pivotal part of the plot with plenty of call-backs and references to it.

Started Innocent Sin again - not a replay, technically, since I got to about midgame before quitting the first time. Some thoughts:

I forgot that Maya and Yukino join so early, but it's always fun seeing competent adults in this series. Also, it's a nice touch that Yukino joins at a higher level than you.

I was also surprised at how quick the game gets going. There's no "discovering that the supernatural is real" extended-tutorial segment, except for Philemon's quick speech. Magic is real, and fifteen minutes in the main gang buys weapons to kill the main villain. I appreciate the initiative.

Persona 1's like that too. After everyone gets shocked by lightning, hallucinate a vision of a butterfly man telling them to find their inner selves, and see a formerly sick friend walking around, they adapt real fast to killing demons. Guess that's what happens when you're in the same world as Devil Summoner.
