I decided to start over as a Dwarf Commoner Rogue and am liking the dwarves so far.

It's nice to see them with an accent that isn't an over-the-top silly sounding Scottish stereotype as done by Fat Bastard

It seems to have the happiest ending out of any of the Oirigns I played so far: You get to stick it to the man and get off the hook for it via Duncan, Rica's noble-hunting finally looks to be paying off, your friend whose name I forgot is finally free from his crime-lord boss, Duncan finds his recruit, and the city is free from yet another dangerous criminal, everyone gets a happy ending! (Except for the Warrior Caste you humiliated, the guy you killed for Brecht, all of Brecht's thugs you murdered, and Brecht himself after you kill him)

@Hulk That's what you think now. When you return, you'll see why casteless don't live happily ever after.

Finished my own first playthrough over four days, couldn't stop playing. I had Alistair, Morrigan and Shale in my party. The rest of them left me or forced me to kill them. All I did was what had to be done! Only Morrigan saw that, I suppose. And then... the ending... damn. sad

Now that's hardcore. What could you do that would piss off over half of the available NP Cs? Wait. I don't think I want to know. I've only done the Circle and Redcliffe, and am starting on the Dalish now. I imagine I'll see the critical points when I get to them.

I managed to beat Flemeth, but the game is glitching on me and not giving me the map location to go get Shale. Off to the dwarves, then.

Assuming you have the DLC for Shale and collected the control rod from the guy in the mountains, that is pretty weird. I got Shale, but his hometown is still glowing like there's something new there. Hmm.

Actually, the whole Arl Eomen thing has a few pretty darn critical points, namely a certain holy relic. Just wish I had gotten that apostate freed, I’ve got such a soft spot for blood mages and witches.

And I thought that glowing thing just signified that it was DLC stuff.

It could be a DLC thing, that's true.

Speaking of which, I need a new points card so I can get the last of the currently available DLC... I got a ton of free stuff when I pre-ordered but only have a couple hundred points left, so I couldn't pick up the remainder.

Yeah, Warden's Peak is glowing for me even though I've finished it. It seems like a DLC thing.

Found a fix on the Bioware forums for Shale's town not appearing, so hopefully it'll work. (Here in case anyone here gets the same problem.)

Mmm. Warden's Peak. That's the one I'm missing. I'll check my finances and get it either tonight or on friday when I get paid.

Got the fix to work, got Shale. I love the scene with him and the pigeon. Can't decide whether to talk to him now or save his dialogue for my next playthrough.

I only used him at the end as a tank, since he's completely awesome at that, but if you still have Orzammar left then bring him with you.

While we're talking about Orzammar, might I just add that it rocks the shit out of the game? Really, that place did it for me... it's so well done you'll explode in sheer magnificence by the end. Oh, and it has the most load times of any area.

I've been considering loading the game onto my 360's hard drive; the load times haven't been terrible, but they're not great, either. The thing that's stopped me so far is that they have nice little recaps of your situation on the load screen sometimes.

There's a known memory leak, or something, so if you restart the game every once in a while things run better.

So how did people resolve the ending of Soldier's Peak, for those who bought it? So far it's my favorite part of the game.

Me? I killed everyone. Mage dies, demon dies. You don't truck with demons, and he's unrepentant. And I'm not honorable enough to let a demon go. Betrayal or not, they're a demon. They die.

I let the guy live, but only because I thought he'd give me something letter. Then I lied to the demon and killed her.

I tried lying to the demon, but it saw through me and I had to kill it before it could seal the Veil. The battle where the mage helps you seal off the Veil was pretty epic, though.

As for the mage, I let him live in return for doing ethical research to help the Wardens. He seemed honest enough to honor those terms, even if he wasn't repentant about his previous research.

More of NWN and Kot OR's shit combat, an "original" world that manages to be as unoriginal as possible AND paying extra for something someone did in 12 hours? No thanks.

Well that's great for you. You don't like Bioware-style games. Why shit on other people's parade?

It's a good game. Very good.

There is a certain "more of the same" feel to it that I find hilarious when put in the context of various trailers telling me how innovative it's supposed to be. That doesn't make it a bad game though.

It's really a quite good, well-written, enjoyable PC RPG in the same vein as Baldur's Gate. If you can tolerate the wonky difficulty curve and see past all the GORE AND TITS they included under contractual obligation to get Microsoft to license it for the 360.

The gore is much more manageable if you toggle off persistent gore in the settings menu. Though at least in the Human Noble origin, I recommend leaving it on to witness the EPIC BLOODBATH that is your tutorial fight with rats.

I played human mage first and was very impressed, although I'm afraid that some of the other origins are less well-developed. Dwarf commoner for example wasn't as interesting.

@Draconis

No, I just don't like games with horrible combat with and bad plots/settings.

"It's a good game" is what everyone says about KotOR I, and it's shit.
