I suspect that this episode was the first iteration, or close. And I really don't think I'll go with Mazui again.

New OP was good, though I wouldn't rank it above "Bouken Desho Desho." Some odd similarities to the OPs for CLANNAD, like the character intros.

Anyone know why the filesize was so small? 69MB isn't a typical episode size.

What? Mine is 221 MB big. (720p, .mkv, [Mazui])

I already said it's probably gonna be a two parter, yea. Lots of people complaining that the episode was boring, but I can already think how they're gonna continue it. Seeing how they handle things with Haruhi, it would be surprising not to have a litte mindscrew right?

Well, I think the next episode is going to start exactly like the last one, for the first minutes and viewers will be like "Wtf? A reair? FUCK YOU KYOANI, STOP TROLLING US" until Kyon mentions having déjà vus and the whole thing seems awfully weird. You know, like all those time-loop plots, except in this case, the viewer is gonna be just as confused as the character in the loop. At least, it would work for the people who haven't read the novels or know what's gonna happen. And then the real plot starts..

At least, I hope they're gonna do it like that, 'cause it would be awesome that way.

Ah. I didn't get the 720p. And that was EXACTLY what I thought the next episode would be.

My complaint actually links back to the episode order and getting ones hopes up, because apparently I'm still falling for it even though I'm aware of it.

But seriously, if this is a two parter and the Sighs is like a three or even four parter, then it's not likely that Disappearance is going to get six episodes which, to me, is a major disappointment. Either that, or stuff like Snow Mountain Syndrome and Charmed at First Sight LOVER aren't going to show up after all, which is almost as bad.

Noooo, they can't cut Snow Mountain Syndrome! :|

@Smokie: I so hope that'll happen too. Throughout the entire episode, I was simply observing Nagato, just in case, you know, she got, bored of more than 15k iterations. T___T

Even if they didn't/don't continue Endless Eight - which will make everyone who read the books go WTF - I didn't think this episode was without its charm. It's kinda like Someday in the Rain to me, at least, if they keep it like this. It seems pretty doubtful that they won't give it the proper conclusion though.

They can't air Snow Mountain Syndrom without the 9th novel.

Unless.. They intentionally leave it like that so people will discuss who the culprit is to hell and back. idea

I'd be sad if they don't animate LOVER, though. I demand more of Yuki.

Which makes me wonder how long until Sasaki, Tachibana Kyouko, Kuyoh, and the sneering bastard are all animated.

I doubt we'll get the ninth novel animated until sometime after the tenth is published. So, probably never.

This is a speculation bomb. But assuming that a third season happens (oh god, I'm already doing this...?) then it would probably be based around the 7th novel. That at least introduces the sneering bastard and Kyoko although the latter goes unnamed and has more of a cameo than anything.

Aside from that, Snow Mountain happened long before novel nine, so all the readers were kept in the dark as well, I don't see why they wouldn't do it with the anime.

Just to refresh my memory, but this would be the events of Asahina Mikuru no Yuuutsu, correct? The one where the Mikuru from next week travels back to get kidnapped in place of her past self?

That's part of it, yes. The Melancholy of Mikuru Asahina happens at the end of novel six where her and Kyon (more Kyon) end up saving that kid from the van. Novel 7 is where the whole thing you mentioned comes in.

Ah, I see, thanks. :) Oh right, I remember now, they found the chip by the riverbank when the sneering bastard showed up.

a.f.k. sub is out now. Meh, no HD version, .avi and weird credits in the OP. :|

Second iteration of "Endless Eight" just aired.

We're apparently looking at a third iteration next week.

2chan is asploding.

God damn it, a three-parter. What the hell.

But still, the episode was really good. I could count all the times I went "Fuck yeah", but It'd be a long list. They really did a great job at portraying Yuki, in my opinion.

Can't wait for subs, I really like this episode. But the three-parter thing sucks.

Surprisingly I don't see a lot of recycled animation, if any. Everything has something different, even if it's extremely subtle.

It goes off on another route after the first few scenes anyway.

I like reading the reactions on 2chan:

  • 06/18 — Ep 12 — Endless Eight
  • 06/25 — Ep 13 — Endless Eight
  • 07/02 — Ep 14 — Endless Eight
  • 07/09 — Ep 15 — Endless Eight

>> So would this be a BAD END or a NORMAL END?
More like NEVER END

Raws are out. Not very good quality ones, but it's only been a few hours.

Unless the new season is going to be longer than anyone expected it to be three episodes for Endless Eight is kinda overkill, isn't it?

Actually, I think it works well. Leaves enough room for a full season 3 without hitting the unfinished plot arc in the light novels.

Well, at this rate, maybe The Sighs will only get two episodes. That actually suits me fine. Aside from the near "Get back in the kitchen!" moment it wasn't terribly exciting anyways.

Sighs? *looks up*

...Oh. Yeah, that was boring. Maybe they won't put it in at all?

Grahf Since: Jan, 2001
#148: Jun 25th 2009 at 7:07:46 PM

That would make me so incredibly happy I can almost guarantee you that it won't happen.

I tend to have a gambler's fallacy about stuff that annoys me; that being that an event will annoy me, it will happen. At this rate I figure that The Sighs might run three, maybe four episodes, and then in the best case scenario The Disappearance takes up the rest of the slots, because it honestly deserves more than four episodes.

EDIT: Oh, by the way. Apparently this has deviated from the novels. Because in the novels the 15,498th loop was the final loop. It would appear that this time it is not the case. Wonder what's up with that?

Maybe the first of the three parter is the 15,496th iteration, then this week's ep is the 15,497th? I dunno, I guess I'm grasping at straws here. grin

Well, it looks like nobody but Mazui has subs out yet, and I'm impatient. *sigh*
