Fair enough.

Also, his Ultimate Air Power should be avoided. If he's hit during the last bit, where he launches into the air, he gets stuck and the game won't continue. You have to land to end a match. I think if you're on a team and the other teammate wins, the battle might end, though.

Right, I have seen that happen in a match before. Almost forgot about that, actually.

That's why I just stick with his U. Air Shot. The properties of a Shot move with the (up-close) hitbox of a Power one. Best of both worlds and fairly safe to boot. wink

Ground Power and Air Shot do own. I like his Ultimate Ground Trap too. XD

No. The game's final story mode battle pits Sonic against Ultimate Emerl. That's a separate inacessible sprite to players, and they also cannot have all Ultimate attacks. Think of it like a very specific unplayable boss.

It's impossible to literally play as Ultimate Emerl, but a Gameshark/whatever will allow you to use his moveset.

So I saw Irene mention the Code Breakers cheat for quick Virtual Training rare cards. I've done 5-6 matches in it, and between the guaranteed one and the chance ones, I have earned 2 new rare cards. One of which I now have three of. And three of several others I had before too.

Dammit, game!

Alright, 90% of all cards, and all Ultimate Skills! I'm now only missing:

  • Chaos' Air Shot
  • 27 Rare cards, all belonging to characters other than Chaos
  • Sonic's Combo Card (which I'm saving for the last card I want to get

92% Completion. Remaining cards:

  • Sonic's Combo Card
  • 8 ??? Cards (Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Rouge, Amy, Cream, Gamma)
  • 4 Attack Support Cards (Knuckles, Shadow, Amy, Gamma)
  • 4 Strength Support Cards (Sonic, Tails, Rouge, Amy)
  • 2 Other Support Cards (Shadow and Amy)
  • 2 Color 1 Cards (Tails and Cream)
  • 1 Color 2 Card (Gamma)

I just need Knuckles' ??? card for my Gemerl to be complete.

Considering how impossible it is to get the cards I'm missing, I'm thinking maybe I had 87% of cards, not 97%.

Having gotten Tails' strength support (and 2 copies, at that...), I now have 20 Rare Drops I still need to get, plus the combo card I can pick up at any time.

At the same time, there are only 27 non-Rare skill cards I haven't already hit the cap for. Several of those are Chaos' moves, or Ground Power moves, because the game likes to give out certain move types less frequently.

Meanwhile, I've been at this long enough that since I've been farming in Virtual Training using the quick VT cheat, I've reached the cap on every Ultimate skill.

Why does this game hate me? Why can't I just get the remaining rare moves? Or even just Knuckles' ???, so I can finish Gemerl? The game gave me that one last time!

Flick is the only Ground Power I seem to max out fastest on. Rare-wise, Ultimate Ground Power I tend to get a lot, same with Ultimate Ground Trap as well.

Ultimate Ground Trap was one of the more common ones for me, too.

I've noticed it tends to prioritize things as Movement skills > Attack skills > Special Attacks >> Rare skills (Color skills >> Support > Ultimate Skills >>> ???)

I think that might be the actual case. I don't know if it's literally that, but somebody could go into the code and properly figure it out.

Besides that, I've noticed some stuff with the actual Ability Skills. Or whatever they're named, been ages.

  • Low Gravity 1 and 2: Lowers your Defense by those numbers.
  • High Gravity 1 and 2: Ups your Defense by those numbers.

No idea what the Speed Up and Acceleration Up do. Might effect your Offense by Up/Down in that particular order. It would explain why Amy and Shadow hit so overly hard despite their card's weaker stats, and the opposite for Sonic and Cream.

To note, these are theories from observation and may or may not be true. The last two, no Ability(Basic Emerl) and Knuckles' don't seem to affect stats at all. I have no idea if the Styles do at all, besides obviously Chaos Gamma's making an explosion. Guard Robo is programmed differently, stripped of his voices, and all gray. Also is a separate character in the game via programming.

Trounce Support is supposed to increase your rate of Ichikoro gauge refill. I never really figured out what any of the other support do.

We know that some of the support is BS or unrelated to Story Mode gameplay, though. Remember, getting hit with Chaos' power moves in story mode is an instant kill no matter what, and his Heavy-wallbounce-Aim combo is also intended to kill.

In regular play he actually does have much lower attack/defense. That's just making him essentially a Mini-Boss since you have to face him alone. And the fact that he's required to even get to the Death Egg.

Attack is regularly 7. Defense is regularly 1. Everyone can beat you if they finish off a full combo with a meteor attack, though. Rouge and Tails might be exceptions, but they have 1 and 2 for their Attack Supports, so...

Regardless, the whole support and stats shown on the game are hard to take seriously. Like Chaos Magic has such a high damage output, almost... 5? But it barely does much at all. I admit, I think they didn't show it how it was programmed in. But I don't perfectly know the inner workings, so...

And Trounce Support apparently increases it more when you Attack or Block? I can't remember.

Block, I think.

Chaos' buff sticks even in VT, I think.

VT isn't "regular" battle. I mean multiplayer, to clarify. That's story mode specific.

Oh, I know what you meant, I'm just saying that he keeps his buff outside of where he'd be treated as a mini-boss.

At least, I think. He so rarely shows up in VT.

I can't remember, to be honest. It's hard to tell, seeing as I tend to use codes to speed up the process. >_> I beat the game first without any(save VT), so no worries.

Likewise. Right now I'm playing with Infinite Life, Infinite Ichikoro, and 1 match VT, and increased speed on my emulator (which I'm now so used to that the regular game seems slow), and I'm still not making much progress on completion.

It still makes me mad that Chaos can actually kill you without doing any damage, just by using a power move. His ground power even kills twice before it dissipates!

In my case, since I have to use a Gameshark Advance SP, it's Infinite Life only, Infinite Ichikoro. I can't use the "End VT Training in 1 Match" due to there being no code. I don't think you can unlock level 10, level 15, and level 20 if you use the code, though.

I'm running it on the My Boy emulator for my Android Phone. The free version of the app (which I use) can use multiple code types simultaneously, but only allows for codes that are one line long. Fortunately, all three of those are one line long.

I'd already beaten VT up to level 20 before I activated cheats.

Ah, okay.

VT is pretty ridiculous regardless. I would've been fine with it if every 5 levels you gained an extra life to use per battle.(So on battle 6-10, you have two lives, battle 11-15, three lives, battle 16-20, four lives...) That would balance it out while keeping it a challenge. To clarify, when you start Battle 17, for instance, you reset to 4 lives for that.

Anyway, I've already collected 5 Meltdown and 0 copies of Air Meltdown. I hate the RNG sometimes. >_<

I believe I'd previously suggested two things that might make this game more like both regular Sonic games and Power Stone:

  • Larger stages
    • Movement speed can be buffed a bit, especially for characters like Chaos
    • More variation
    • More stage options. I'd love to have part of a stage be underwater, leading to certain characters getting out quickly if need be, or not.
  • Rings scattered about stages to recover a small amount of health
    • Healing would be more based on Ichikoro rate recovery, except if a character's Unique Skill changes that up a bit.

I have a few suggestions for where to merge "Other Support" with "Fight Pose" to create a "Unique Skill" that could be activated by pressing L+R together.

  • Sonic: Light Dash - press to Light Dash across a string of rings
  • Knuckles: Trounce Support - the next attack to be blocked is unblockable and recovers a small amount of Ichikoro gauge
  • Shadow: Chaos Control - Freeze all other players and the game timer, and allows free movement, but not attacks, for 3 seconds. Once per life.
  • Rouge: Stoop - any basic jump skill leaves the player floating at that height, and they can drop down by pressing L+R.
  • Chaos Gamma / E-123 Omega: INITIATING RECOVERY MODE. Automatic on death.
  • Espio: Phase - invisibility and invulnerability for 5 seconds. Once per life.
  • Honey: Foresight - Automatically block the next OHKO attack that would hit within the next 10 seconds. Once per life.

Yes, I would make Honey the Cat a returning character. Preferably Big's sister, and the one who taught Amy Tarot reading.

In the last 10 minutes I got 4 color 3 cards as my only rare cards. All of which I already had at least 3 copies of.

The RNG is a spiteful sumbitch.

Do we know if it's even possible to get at ??? card in Virtual Training? I'm thinking I may switch over to regular matches to get my remaining missing cards. I still need:

  • Knuckles, Shadow, Amy and Gamma's attack supports
  • Sonic and Rouge's Strength Supports
  • Shadow and Amy's Other Supports
  • Tails' Color 1
  • Gamma's Color 2
  • All the ??? except for Chaos'
So I've got 18 cards left, and yet the game seems to spite me by giving me stuff like my 3 copies of Tails' color 3, and 5 copies of Gamma's same, or an average of 2 copies of the Other Supports for the characters I do have.

So was this the most powerful weapon Eggman ever built? I mean, it's stronger than the Eclipse Cannon, and doesn't even need Chaos Emeralds. When I read the scene in the game, I just assumed that he'd faked footage of the attack and didn't actually fire it, but it seems I'm the only one who thought that.

I imagine that some moves in a sequel could be pulled from this.
