If Oscar Wilde had lived in our time, he would be a /b/tard.

Actually, scratch that. He does, and goes by Jethro Q Walrustitty.

Have you ever had a teacher you didn't like, not because their mean or strict, but because they're not good at teaching?

My Korean Cosc teacher has a presence that you can feel in the room. he's intimidating. This guy, my calculus teacher, is just bad. He's not intimidating, and not a good lecturer. I just can't understand my Cosc teacher cuz he talks fast with a heavy accent. This guy has poor handwriting and awfully structured lessons, I doubt he even knows what he's doing. He's just pathetic

The worst teacher I had would put everything we needed to know in a slideshow, then give a lecture from that slideshow, and then blame us when we hadn't "prepared" for "discussion". ("Discussion" meaning he would randomly ask one of us what the next point was going to be.)

Yikes, dude. I think I mentioned it earlier somewhere, I had two teachers I didn't like. One didn't know the meaning of Show, Don't Tell and the other was....how to explain, she didn't get that some people's agendas aren't "keep the peace"

Going back to the nukes thing, it would actually be physically impossible for us to blow up the planet, even if every single nuke was used. Considering the Tsar Bomb has an explosive yield of 50 to 58 megatons, and it requires at least 53 quadrillion megatons to destroy the planet, unless there are at least 1.06 quadrillion Tsar Bomb-level nukes on the planet we're not capable of destroying it.

we don't actually have to launch that many nukes to 'destory' the planet. If you are measuring 'blow up the planet right away' maybe, but not if you are measuring by 'do enough damage that the result causes a cascading damaging effect that ends up blowing the planet apart.' I'm sure that with enough nuclear power focused on the main fault lines enough damage could be done.

so my question is are we measuring by 'destory the planet itself' or 'destroy humanity through catastropic disasters related to nuclear bomb explosions'

Except Rachel mentioned that we could destroy our planet 100 times over with the amount of nukes we have, which isn't even remotely true.

This guy once threw out the entire class because three or four people in a row didn't know the answer. Unexcused absence for everybody. And his policy was that you fail the class if you have three unexcused absences.

I had some teachers where I wanted to say to them "If everyone in the class is having problems with this subject, it just might be your fault and not theirs."

had that happen a few times.

Faust logic; if NO ONE gets it, do you really think EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the class is an idiot?

The guy really knew his subject. The class was on media law, and he'd worked at the FCC and NAB for years. He just couldn't teach.

I've had teachers like that, too.

Some people are just too knowledgeable, if you know what I mean?

My crim law professor asked us quite a few inappropriate questions that were potential triggers, depending on the answer.

yeah, kicking out the whole class because of a few wrong answers is bush.

yeah, I've had my share of teachers who were knowledgable, but because they understood the topic so well they were pants at breaking it down to someone learning it for the first time. I know that sounds counterintuitive, like if you know something really well that you should be able to explain it to a toddler, but it was more a case of they knew the topic so well that they went into teaching it with the assumption that everybody had a base understanding of it and launched into explainations midway through without ever explaining how they got to that point.

It's a bit like comparing something to Felony Murder (US Law) without explaining the elements for felony murder to people who've never studied it before.
