I should probably go a reread that part, now that I think about it. Oh well.
I feel we have a rather good blend of radicals and puritans, all things considered. Barring a few dunces on either side, most seem to have some sense as well.
Conception is sin Birth is pain Life is toil Death is inevitableDoublepost.
Uhm, to be frank Arcky, Remilia is not a human, which she readily acknowledges later on. Your camp seems mildly schizophrenic, tbh.
Conception is sin Birth is pain Life is toil Death is inevitableYeah, but also mutants were once humans. Remilia was born a vampire. The thing is that they keep calling her the wrong thing.
"Madam, I do say you are a mutant." 8|
"No, good sir, you are gravely mistaken. I have gone through no mutation." :|
"Forsooth, verily you are an abhuman!" >8V
"Such baseless accusations, my dear fellow. Not once in my family's proud bloodline will you find a twisted human as my ancestor." >:|
"Then, surely, you are a xeno, a monster from without!" D:<
"Hold your tongue, for I was born on Terra's soil!" :}
"Then...are you human?" :?
"Lolno." :D

Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia! You see!? The filth admits that she is no more human than a devious Eldar or debased ork, and yet would claim a place amongst Humanity's defenders! This ultimate blasphemy will not stand! Such heresy, such ignoble treason against all that we stand frargleblarglegrrrr
Inquisitor, you're frothing again. The Conclave will now enter a short recess until the servitors have finished mopping up.
I still think that Darius could have pointed out how Remilia, by her very nature, is a being born from humanity's fear, ignorance and superstition.
Conception is sin Birth is pain Life is toil Death is inevitableWell, yes, but that's if he's not too xenophobic to research how Youkai work.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Ugh, it's gonna look bad for Darius if Futo of all people can give more convincing anti-youkai arguments.

Conception is sin Birth is pain Life is toil Death is inevitable^^ This pleases mighty Khorne.
Sorry for being away for so long. What did I miss?
@Inquisitors:
I can't even tell you anything about my guy except he was a Techpriest Inquisitor or something.
Locking you up on radar since '09Trogg make friend. Trogg happy now.
Well, here is some food for thought, Jørgen, referring to Arcturus' statement - two things: One of them is a mild logical equivalence joke - given that as a psyker, Arcturus is technically not baseline human himself, and "no more mutant than I am" would technically still be valid. You're talking about a dude who can invade minds and generate warp-electricity intense enough to power vehicle-mounted plasma cannons (which happened once in the current RP), and most importantly, is constantly aware of - and exposed to - the churning ocean of madness that awaits just beyond flimsy reality.
Not exactly common human features, those! The undertone then of course being "If the inhumanity argument was consistent, every psyker would already be dead at your feet."
Second: The intention was, on Arcturus' part, to reinforce the message that Remilia is, for all intents and purposes still quite human, character-wise. Whether or not one agrees with that simply depends on your definition of what makes up a human being, but the overall statement he wished to impart was that he considers her kin - if not by blood, then in spirit, at risk of sounding all grand and sweeping-like.
Of course, the fact she dismissed that herself hampered the impact of the statement significantly. While they both had good points, coming across as not being internally consistent on such a... ah, sore topic likely lost them some votes.
They probably should have rehearsed more beforehand, eh?
When in deadly danger, When beset by doubt, Run in little circles, Wave your arms and shout.Seeing as Lem himself was uncertain whether or not Remilia would accept, some internal debate was inevitable.
Mhm... I'm fully aware of what a Psyker is, L3wt. It was the internal consistency that I had issues with, which you pointed out yourself.
But here's some more food for thought. By their very nature, youkai as a whole exist to create conflict. Youkai require human fear to survive, in the same way gods require faith and lunarians need pure environments to maintain their immortality.
In addition, youkai are far more hard-wired than humans are. Let's take... hmm, Minamitsu as an example. She drowns people, that's what's stated as her ability, and what she does behind Byakuren's back. Point being, she needs to drown people to continue existing as she does. If she doesn't, she wouldn't exactly be a very good ship phantom, so her existence might very well be in jeopardy in that case. Ship phantoms drown people, end of the line.
If we talk more generally, the tendency goes again and again. All kappa are geeks with racism problems, all tengu are members of a rigid caste society. That's what they are, because in the myths and folk tales and legends that standardized these youkai's form, youkai were generally talked about as a cohesive group, not individuals. It really shows.
You can't say "all humans are alcoholics". You can say "all oni are alcoholics" however, and you'd be correct. Now, you're fortunate that Remilia's species hat is drinking blood, and not something more... unfortunate.
As a group, youkai need human fear. As individuals, youkai need to carry out what their species are sorta supposed to do. Wether that's active or passive depends. A satori reads minds, and Satori does that. Constantly. As pretty much half the people in So PM point out, a satori who can't read minds (read: Koishi) is pretty much a contradiction. Akyuu puts it as "a bland unscented spice, a knife that can't cut." Simply put, something that cannot do what is was originally supposed to do.
To further reinforce the point, take a gander at the youkai who are former humans. All of them are dedicated to doing something. Alice works on her dolls, Byakuren is dedicated to youkai/Buddhism, and Ichirin is dedicated to Byakuren. All of them do something.
And before you bring up Yukari, I think Yukari is sorta dedicated to Gensokyo itself.
Contrast with Kaguya, who is milling around unsure of what to do with herself.
Now that I'm done with this post, I'm pretty sure I'm mistaken somewhere... since I tend to be when I make long rambling posts.

Conception is sin Birth is pain Life is toil Death is inevitableAlice is a youkai? I thought she was a human witch like Marisa.
The closest youkai I know of to Yukari is that wall-of-eyes thing, which takes the eyes from sleeping visitors. Gratuitous cruelty does sound like her shtick.
No, Alice is an immortal Youkai Magician. She's also (probably) the personal creation of a goddess.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Depending on your take on the PC-98 era. It's really left up to interpretation, that part.
Conception is sin Birth is pain Life is toil Death is inevitableYeah.
In other news...Touhou games are coming to the PS4!
That is to say, not games in the main series, but doujin games. But still!
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!I heard. All the more reason to get a PS 4 eventually.
I just hope they'll be well made, and that they'll be translated.
Conception is sin Birth is pain Life is toil Death is inevitableI have every trust in Touhou fans as gamemakers. They have done some truly amazing things in the past.
Chances for translation are slim...unless, of course, the makers themselves translate them (or allow another fan's translation). Sony may be willing to take the chance to bring them over if they pick up on Touhou's western fanbase, but I'm not sure they'll foot the bill for translation.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Well, if they end up on Playstation Store, they could end up available over here...
Still I agree with you on the fact that chances are slim. I'm simply expressing my hopes and whatnot.

Conception is sin Birth is pain Life is toil Death is inevitableYou know, Helen Angelos being friendly and relaxed with Thomas Lansmith in private (while also being an Amalathian) makes more sense when you know about her secret Sec Att tendencies. All his tech-tinkering and xenotech salvaging flouts a bunch of inhibiting Ecclesiarchy and Mechanicus dictates.
-found it greatly amusing how coarse and, well, normal her language got in the medicae; most un-Ladylike- XD
Man, I missed a fun little talk yesterday. The wifi across the street went off for my regular computer, and then we were off to a camping site. Went messing about with boats over yonder, using my hands and then a large branch I ripped off a log (while on the water no less) for paddles. Learned how to punt and paddle, in a haphazard but fun fashion. After that, grilled supper.
So yeah, Snow Leopard is now installed, but going to need working wifi on that to complete the Upgrade.
