Are you ready for No Pants!!, the visual novel!? Yeah, I randomly found it. It looks terrible, and the premise is hilarious. It's like they took a cue from Strike Witches or something.

So, post the really weird visual novels you've found here. Only the really weird ones, because everyone knows that all visual novels are weird.

I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.

It's an eroge, so I don't see much weirdness here.

If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.

Just in case someone still hasn't heard of it: OMGWTFOTL. The Katawa Shoujo side project The Answer is also pretty good. Both are really short though.

Please be gentle with me.

Oh wow a Linux version. *download*

This person has a few visual novels. I haven't played them, but the other fiction includes a text-based fighting game and a love story set on an 80s BBS, so I imagine that they're pretty odd.

Tzetze, did you get the Linux torrent to work for OMGWTFOTL? I have zero peers.

Edit: Or were you talking about The Answer?

The Answer. I didn't realize that OMGWTFOTL had a Linux version too. Fuck yeah, amateurish software...

Can't try the torrent right now, will later, but it would make sense to not have any peers. :[

Concurrence on that 80s BBS VN. Digital: A Love Story was fantastic.

Some unique visual novel-esque content that can't be called typical harem games — "virtual date games." For some time, I was only aware of a Flash game called Virtually Date Ariane. Then I searched the web, and found an archive of a dozen similar games... I'll eventually try some of them.

That said, if you have not tried Virtually Date Ariane, then read on... it's kind of fascinating. The tone is relatively realistic — it's a story of just two adults in a relationship, and thus there's no harem. The pacing is moment by moment, with some scene breaks. The game structure is fascinating, since the gameplay is similar to visual novel style, but not especially linear, and there's some puzzle/trivia segments. The difficulty is somewhat inflated by the lack of save/load features, and some player choices can lead right to a bad ending with no warning. The content level is softcore — it's for adults, but it's relatively mild. Finally, the game is presented through polygon graphics. This was my biggest complaint, since the Ariane character is supposed to be sexy, but her appearance can be very Uncanny Valley.

[up] Hey, Osadai looks (and from the demo, is) awesome! Though, really, the concept is ridiculous.

Old thread is old. Hope no one will mind if I give it another try...

I was browsing some untranslated games in the Playstation Database yesterday, and noticed an game called Magical Date. It turns out it was an arcade game as well. One or two players play a board game which features a variety of mini-games. It sounds amusing and different, and I don't think it would require much reading. More info here: http://psxdata.snesorama.us/games/J/M/SLPS-01091.html

The WTF-ness factor is that the entire game is presented in authentic 90s 3D polygon graphics. Remember the PS 1/N64/Saturn era, with all the fog, awkward movement, and characters made from only a few polygons? It looks like those problems were present in Magical Date. The screenshots clearly show the characters have very simple hands.

What about Get Dumped? It's a fan-game made by Macuyo, the objective if which is... Exactly What It Says on the Tin.
