I love how in Shadow he made an entire theme park out of rings.
I just assumed that places like Casino Night Zone and Carnival Night Zone were locations that were already in existence. Yeah, they have obstacles in them, but it's a video game; when did video games have to make sense?
There are a few places that simply had to have been made by Eggman.
Casino Night I've always assumed was already there, the same as the Casino Stages in heroes, but Carnival Night... why would there be a modern Carnival on Angel Island, which hasn't had civilization in hundreds of years (apparently).
Eggman's got Carnival/Amusement Park bases in Shadow and Rivals that appear to have been built by him as well.
And of course Eggmanland and the Totally Not A Deathtrap Amazing Interstellar Amusement Park.

It's possible that Winter Zone DX and Roller Coaster Zone are two separate zones, and that you can see the other in their respective background for the sake of World-Building and interzonal continuity. Whether it's probable, I don't know, but it's possible.
I'm kind of surprised no one's said anything about Little Planet being turned into the Death Egg. (Check the background)

Achievement list leaked. Apparently, two of the zones are named Sylvania Castle and Sky Fortress.
So much for new stage themes...
I dunno, a Eastern European castle seems like a pretty interesting twist on the ruins level idea.
And it's nice to see another carnival stage, particularly one that appears to be some kind of giant roller coaster. All the wooden support beams in conjunction with the snow makes a nice look.

The red rings apparently get Sonic Alone and Tails alone, and possibly the removal of the speed boosters and springs.

Eggman has a flair for the theatrics. He doesn't want to just conquer the world, he wants to conquer the world in fun and bombastic ways. And what's more fun and bombastic than a theme park?
Thinking about it we could probably get much worse world conquerers than Eggman.
