Who would be the weirdest character they could add to the fighting game? I know that's a big question, considering this series, but take shots.

I think the dartboard Chimera Ant siblings would be pretty bizarre.

Not sure about bizarre, but I’d look forward to Knuckle getting translated into a fighting game.

I’d imagine there would be some sort of Nen meter, yeah. Then it becomes a different sort of fight where you’re not damaging each other’s HP but rather having the pool of Nen seesaw between the two fighters until one gets forced into Zetsu, their HP at the mercy of the victor haha.

A faithful recreation of Kite would be interesting though annoying to actually play. Imagine having to start with a completely random weapon and moveset each round.

I wonder if they’ll stay faithful to Hisoka being a creep and psycho including to Gon and Killua, cause I know Granblue did it with its fighting game and a villain who speaks entirely in Innuendos to everyone cause he’s horny.

Random shower thought: I hope Adult Gon was the peak and Gon doesn't get any stronger. The Hero burning out his main character organs is unique to me.

Bucks the trend of Shonen Serial Escalation with the hero being overpowered by the end.

Well assuming we ever get through both the Succession War and Dark Continent arcs, we'd still have to deal with Gon relearning Nen at all before wondering about power ups.

Given the nature of Nen, it's possible for Gon to grow stronger through a different path, maybe? Like instead of being a super Enhancer, he'll become an Emitter instead?

It's not just a matter of relearning Nen. What Gon did to himself in the Chimera Ant arc outright sealed his Nen away as part of the price he paid for that power-up. Gon said it himself — that he'd use everything to crush Neferpitou. It was such a terrible price that even Reality Warper Alluka could only save Gon's life.

Ging warned him against trying to undo that seal since then Gon would be violating the terms of that Nen contract he made with himself. Gon would have to find some way to remove that curse before he could start using Nen again.

As Ging put it, Gon got his health and youth back. Asking for any more would be begging for trouble.

This all emphasizes that what Gon did to himself was incredibly dangerous and stupid. Giving up everything — his youth, his potential, his life — for a moment's strength.

I'll guess that the assumption here is Gon will be able to relearn Nen, most probably with the help of an object/artifact from the Dark Continent, which has already been established to be full of things that defy human understanding.

Thats when Gon learns a second, completely different power system that's just as involved and thought out as Nen.

I'm starting to wonder if Togashi was just kind of tired of writing Gon and wanted to focus on other characters he felt were more interesting.

[up][up] There has been a large contrast between the Chimera arc and the current arc, that I personally think it feels more like an spin-off or a sequel, with the shift from Gon to Kurapika as protagonist being a key factor.

This is why I felt really odd about the possible ending that Togashi revealed months ago, since it only focused on Gon, when I'm currently more invested in Kurapika and the spiders (currently blanking on the name of the group), and would have prefered to get an idea of a resolution on them and their on-going story, instead of Gon being an absentee parent like Ging.

[up][up][up][up][up][up]Okay I was wondering what the hell you were talking about, but after a bit of digging it looks like that while in the official translation Ging says "you'd be ungrateful if you wanted more", in a fan translation it has Ging saying "if you want more there will be a price to pay".

I've never read or watched Hunter x Hunter, but the one term I've always heard in reference to it is "Chimera Ant" so I finally decided to look up what that means... Very cool creature concept. I guess now I know why the few times I have seen screenshots in reference to the Chimera Ant arcs, the enemies didn't look ant-like. [lol]

As an aside, my god, the Fandom (I know Fandom wikis have a poor reputation) wiki for Hunter x Hunter has a redundancy problem. Repeating phrases like "at this point" over and over.

I'm pretty sure Fandom is using AI for their articles now, to the point that some of their wikis are flat out wrong.

Togashi teases another return. Since he said at the last hiatus that he wanted a schedule other than weekly, so he could maintain his health without taking a ton of hiatuses, I wonder if he worked something out?

At this rate, I'd be fine with monthly. Not regular monthly, with chapters being 30-50 pages, but weekly-length chapters (15-20 pages) on a monthly basis. If that's what he needs, I'd be fine with it. Just some sort of schedule would be nice.
